I love the wheels! No E85 here in Connecticut. I think I'll be ordering the state 2 with new air filter by next week. Been hearing some conflicting news about aftermarket intakes and replacement air filter seems the way to go. Anyone else hear have experience with the *********? i.e. check engine lights, faulty codes, ease of installation?

Just read the whole thread, and still slightly unclear on this.

I just recently upgraded to a F10 535 with manual trans.

From what ive read it seems at this point i am still limited to Stage 1?? Or is stage 2 now avail for F10s with tapping into those new CAN wires in the engine bay?

Cant wait to

Thanks for the help guys.

I may be lost with the terminology. I know the F10 initially only had the JB3 (I have heard many refer to that as Stage 1). The JB4 (often referred as Stage 2) has been available for the F10 for a while now (maybe 6 months).

I was curious if there was a new update applied to the JB4 for the f10 n55.

Bigdeep1: If you look at the hex file in the first post of this thread you will see it is at release 5.

JB4 for F10 535i manual transmission is available now. I'm running on my 2011 f10 manual. Make sure you get the latest firmware on it from Terry (version 5) as there was an issue with the water pump running on mine when the car was off until the new firmware was downloaded.

You tap into the CAN wires off of the DME under the airbox - it is very easy.

The water pump running when the car was off was the whole issue behind the battery drainage on the JB4? Was this an issue with the Stage 1 too?

May I ask if you noticed any performance gains with the version 5 firmware? Man, I am not reading the right threads to stay up-to-date.

I'm not sure of the history of the JB4 with regards to water pump issues...I hope there aren't any!

I had no issues with the JB3/Stage 1 - it worked well, felt strong, and didnt cause any undue behaviors.

I only had the JB4 in for one day when I noticed the water pump issue. It was clearly related to the JB4 because I switched back to the JB3 and it went away. Emailing with Terry led him to send me the hex file for version 5, and 2 days later the water pump hasn't run with the car off yet. Interestingly, Terry also pointed out that disconnecting the JB4 connector to the exhaust solenoid would turn off the water pump from running when it shouldn't, and when I tested that theory, it was true. That being said, it is hooked back up now and with the JB4 on version 5 it seems fine, as stated above.

Because of the short duration of use with a version OTHER than version 5, I can't speak to the back to back nature of the two.

I will say, however, that the JB4 is much smoother than the JB3/Stage 1, but the JB3 "feels" faster as it has more of that peaky, boosty behavior. Dyno testing will show which one produces more power in the F10 manual - I hope to have that done soon.

Quick update - the water pump running issue did return, but is temporarily fixed by disconnecting the JB4 harness from the exhaust solenoid and reconnecting the factory wiring back in place.

How can you tell the water pump is running?

Terry - is this affecting automatic cars as well?

I am still on the original firmware S2 on my 535xi

I wanted to chime in on my experience with the F30 stg2.

My Last three cars were tuned by BMS. I sold my FBO + meth e90 N55 about 2 months ago and got a F30 N55 x mt. I had the car tuned at 300 miles. I now have 2k on the car. I have not had a single hiccup with any of the systems (other than the annoying start/stop... I hate that)

I am running a e85 mix with the wires. The new firmware is very strong. When compared to the earlier versions of the f30 tuning the boost hits much earlier in the pull, and is almost in perfect alignment with boost targets on the logs. It is much more linear and predictable than my e90. The power is right where you expect it to be every time, and there is PLENTY of it.

Another benefit is the ease of install. Less than 5 minutes!!!

Great tune, and as always Terry has been 2nd to none with answering my annoying emails.

Newest firmware release (v7), is now available on the first page, and it is much improved...well on my car anyway. Very noticeable throttle response improvement on tip-in and shifts feel much more telepathic (AT8)...Hmmmmm.

I know this is off topic, but does this update apply to the F10 n55?

Perhaps terry could let us know what tweaks he did in update 7 for such a great improvement?

I was able to update the firmware before I left for work this morning and I have to say, I'm surprised by the difference I could feel. Throttle response feels right where it should be. Lag is greatly improved.

When you guys update, when the pop up says "would you like to restore default settings" do you say no? I said no and it took fine and everything seems fine. Just curious why that pop up is even there.

A new firmware update has preset user values and if you choose "not" to restore to those values then your current table values will be kept (for those that have altered any of the numbers for ex; open loop values for E85, overboost values, etc.)

I like to allow it to reset everything on new updates as Terry may have made minor changes and then dial it in to what works for me as every update is different.

Just emailed Terry and he basically said either way is fine. If you do reset, just need to make sure you select your correct model again.
