Default mac solenoid issue - 07-28-2017, 07:55 PM

My mac solenoid seems to not be working properly on my ST setup. I turn the ignition on and give it 100% throttle and it doesn't click. If i keep the throttle around 40-60% you can hear the solenoid constantly click but once you pass a certain point it shuts off. I'm assuming this may be the issue that is resulting in slow spool.. The car is now hitting full boost at around 5000 rpm which is way too late.. its a precision 6266 gen2 so it should be hitting boost at around 3300-3500 rpm. It just feels very laggy..

Measured the voltage on the connectors and its getting 12v on both sides. Its supposed to be 12v and 6v right?

Sounds like it is tune related but I could be wrong. MAC solenoids are new to me. But I will say between two different tuners, one tune I could hear the MAC solenoid and even feel it inside of the cab. The other tune, it was quiet as could be.

I've got the JB4 single turbo backend flash and the special jb4 firmware for the mac solenoid loaded up so I don't see the tune being an issue..

Right. Just saying, in my experience, one tune the MAC solenoid was clearly audible whereas the other was not. But yes, 5000 rpm for full boost is stupid slow for a gen 2 6266. I hit full boost fairly quick.

I'm hitting full boost around 3-3700 RPM from a 5th gear "load" pull mashing the pedal around 2500 rpm.

If it clicks at half throttle solenoid is working fine. If you need tuning help post a log of the issue.

I understand but with the car off and just ignition on I measured the voltages on the solenoid harness and it's getting 12v on both pins on both connectors. According to your YouTube video it should be at 12 and 6v. Regardless, I will get a 3rd and 4th gear log posted up within the next couple days.

12v on both sides is normal when gas pedal isn't pressed.

Boost creep on map 1 is interesting.

On map 3, you need to lower your FF to 40 and let it learn from there.

Quite a few timing corrections at that boost level. More octane will be needed to run 25psi, but lets see how 20psi looks once you lower FF.

Ok i'll set the ff to 40 and log another pull tonight. I'm running the car on 94 octane so it should be good enough for map4 right?

on the user settings i have the duty bias and fuel bias all set to 0. is that ok?
DWP:60
PID: 25
Auto Shift: 60
FF/WA: 100
Fuel Open Loop: 40

I pulled these settings off of a thread Terry had made specific to the ST setups.

Duty biases should be set to 0 for ST firmware and FF to 40 to start.

You still have an overboost issue despite FF and DB's being zero. What is your spring pressure? Looks like you have a hardware setup issue.

Are the single setup note wrong? This is copy and paste from the notes

6) With single turbo firmware FF and dutybias are saved on a per map basis. As a starting point for any given map set dutybias all to 50 (level), FF relatively low, and let it learn itself up. Since there is such a wide variation of turbos, manifolds, etc, used we anticipate each setup will require some fine tuning for perfect boost control. Note to enable duty cycle by map settings dutybias 1500rpm must always be set to 50. This tells the JB4 to use your dutybias 2000rpm+ settings.

For duty bias 0 and 50 are the same.

With the single turbo firmware as well? I know those numbers become pretty random as it adapts.
