Default Mac solenoid issue - 07-10-2016, 08:29 PM

Hey guys Im having an issue with my mac solenoid and was hoping you guys might be able to help me. I cant seem to get it to work as of now.
When I first installed my kit it worked fine for about a week. I didnt realize till too late that one of the wires touched the turbo housing and melted causing the solenoid to shut and all I had was wastegate.
So I cut out the melted piece and reconnected the wire. Upon doing that I could only hit 17psi, no more and no less. I figured the Mac was busted so I ordered a new one from Terry.
Installed that and Im once again on just wastegate spring. Used a volt meter and it doesnt seem like there is any power going to the wires. Should there be power going to it when the car is in the on position?
Any bit of advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well I retested the wires. I have 12v going to both. I tested the solenoid and it clicks with a 12v source. However I cant seem to get it to click while connected to the harness. Anyone know what pin on the jb4 controls the mac?

12v from the solenoid comes from the factory wiring harness. You could always jumper 12v to it from a switched source like the red power wire that powers up the JB4.

Ok, Even tho it has 12v going through the harness doing the jumper might get the solenoid to work?

Also when doing the test I should have 12v on one side and 6v on the return side right?

So I hooked an external ground up to it and the solenoid finally clicks. Is there a ground between the solenoid and the Jb4 or is it in the Jb4? Im going to throw in a friends Jb4 on sunday and see if that fixes my issue.

You can send your JB4 in to be tested or worst case, just purchase the G5 ISO upgrade.

Having the same issue. No modulation of the mac solenoid, 12v supply and return... this seems to be happening often!

I did the same thing a while back... shorted out my Mac.. and finally found a 30 amp engine fuse blown behind my glove box... replaced it and that solved all my problems

My issue was I crossed the mac wires and shorted my Jb4 board. Sent it to Bms and got a new one. Terry seemed to know by looking at the board what I did without even asking so it sounds like it happens often. Think it cost me 75 bucks.

To get the single turbo firmware to modulate with the latest version you need to also set DWP = 0. Otherwise with PWM at 100 the solenoid is just fully closed, there is no modulation.

Thank you for clarifying. With DWP set to zero, the mac solenoid is modulating.

Terri, i am running mac solenoid from you guys but where we have the old two lugs from the original solenoids , there is not power coming to those plugs and the solenoid is not woking and i am overcasting like crazy.

do you know from where those two plugs are getting the power or 12v.

is there any fuses for those solenoid plugs? if there is not fuses, getting 12v from any other source will be ok, how the jb4 will read and connect with the solenoid?

thank you for your help

Did you ever figure this out, I've looked at every thread lots of people have had this issue but no solution posted anywhere. I tried a different jb4 board a different solenoid. I have 12v on both wires and dont know what to do at this point. I checked the wiring and dont see any breaks or anything melted or shorted together.
