Default Started work on a local N55 large turbo car - 09-08-2016, 11:52 AM

Hey guys,

ACF dropped off an E series N55 w/ 6266 PTE G2 top mount kit on it. Car is equipped with port injection, FBO, a traditional BOV, etc. So work on tuning this thing begins.

The N55 single turbo firmware will have the "MAC" designation like the N54 single turbo firmware which refers to the MAC wastegate control valve. We've already got JB4 control of the port injection active and we've reworked the map numbering to mirror the N54 single turbo map guide.

First order of business will be to determine how the engine takes to > 20psi of boost which historically has caused various misfire problems with N55s.

** 9-13-16 update ** Some early dyno numbers here: http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showpo...3&postcount=54

Looks like a BOV is on the charge pipe. What is the vacuum source for it?

It's a problem, actually. One that should be resolved in a few days. Installer plugged it in to the manifold. What we're going to do is use a 3way solenoid and connect it to the vacuum resv with the solenoid actuated by the factory electronic DV plug.

That sounds like a great idea, nice! I feel like an EFR with internal WG and DV would actually be the easiest large turbo for E series for this reason. But is a crazy tight fit.

Seems like this things going to be back on the dyno in a few months, providing MHD comes through. With the time and money invested in this car you would want to utilize the other tuning variables that MHD is suggesting they will unlock (such as vanos control).

The verdict is still out but the flash tools for the E series N55 are very limited. I can set timing, fuel trims, and AFR curve, then boost via the JB4. That is about it. No valvetronic or vanos tables, no advanced tables to enable anti-lag, can't disable under-boost false alarm fault code, etc

Absolutely, hope MHD comes through for us for the back end flash maps. I'm so done with Cobb.

The funny thing, even tho I'm excited about my car making power and finally getting to drive it. I'm just as happy of how much the community is benefiting right now. We no longer will be the "black sheep" much longer. Keep up the great work Terry!
