Default N54 2 step issues after backend flash - 12-06-2015, 03:15 PM

I wired in my 2 step about a week ago, everything worked fine. The day I got my backend flash my 2 step started acting weird. Wouldn't stay at the set rpm, go up and down in rpm randomly, sounds different too. For example if I set it to 3000, it would go up to 4K, back down to 2k, go up to 3k bounce a couple times, then go higher and lower and so on. Also after the backend flash, the car would pop, under full boost as it's going up in rpm. I also know I wired in my 2 step properly, it wasn't a hard task, and it was right after the backend flash that it started doing this. has anyone had this problem? Do you know what's causing it?
Thank you

I have had the same exact problem you have been describing and haven't figured out what is causing it.

There is some bug with the 2STEP where it will not always target perfectly. It's a random thing so won't be related to the flash loaded.

And how do I get rid of this "bug"?

Did yours act up right out of the box? Or did it start randomly?

Im having a similar issue since updating JB4. The car just dumps fuel out the exhaust but no 2step. It was working perfect before. Also i'm from England and the outside temperature is close to freezing.

Dumps fuel out the exhaust? Are you sure that is fuel?

Would there be a way to just have a fixed rev-limit/lunch rpm. I don't really care making boost on the line, if I could just hold a fixed rpm to help lunch the car like we did with other platforms. These small turbos spool so fast anyway

Trying to spool the turbos using 2-step process seems to bug the fuel trims and stuff, sometimes works, sometimes creates some problems, having the option to limit rpm only without dumping fuel would be nice.

Just a thaught

We'll have to work on and fix it in a future software update.

If using an E85 flash map maybe you need to disable the anti-lag table per the anti-lag thread.

Yes fuel, I know because it stinks of raw petrol. Car jus tries to hold revs and dumps loads of raw fuel out I know this because I dont get the 2step no more and all i can smell is raw fuel.

Yikes....that's not good. Open up your oil cap and see if you smell fuel in your oil.

Just want to bump this thread. I just installed the 2 step/ NLS and I'm having the same issues. Very sporadic rpm changes while 2 step is active. Already had the pump backend flash.

Any fix to this yet?

EDIT: Didn't realize this thread is only 4 days old. Still, if anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

I'll try stock flash tomorrow and report back just to confirm its not anything to do with the BEF.

Any luck with the stock flash? I'd be surprised if the flash is the cause. I would think it's more related to the firmware.

I believe the relay is working properly and Terry said there might be a possible bug that needs to be fixed in an update. I'm sure he is working on it knowing folks are seeing issues.

It has been confirmed it's a firmware thing. If you upload firmware 30 it will work.

Although I'm with you; it's disappointing for it not to work as advertised. I'm sure the firmware will be updated soon knowing BMS customer service.

I went to firmware 32 and I still have the same issue. This weekend I'll play around with the different flashes and see if I can fix it.

Where can you download that firmware? I see the .hex for 31 and 32 on the N54 page.

All these threads about non-working 2-step

I just received my relay the other day. Hoping I didn't pay for a paperweight.
