Default Fuel-Itís new M2C build thread - 07-29-2019, 11:14 PM

Hey guys!

We recently purchased a new 2020 M2 for some road race events and as fun driver’s car to mod and enjoy. We much prefer a smaller and better handling car over the brute power of something like our M4 that is just too big, too loud (straight piped), too obnoxious (crazy graphics), and is really setup more for 1/2 mile racing than anything else.

We’ll be using the M2C for a variety of functions/events but will mostly be concentrating on road course/timed type events and just enjoying the car for what it is...a 1M with a thyroid problem and a crack addiction that we don't have to worry about and can just beat the crap out of.

Since our priority is the driving experience, we purchased a manual that will get modest power upgrades (700whp or so) and we’ll upgrade the handling components as needed.

Since we get a lot of inquiries that vary from mild to wild and what's required for different power goals and fuel types we thought we’d start a thread to document the process for others to reference.

For this build we are planning the following:

Phase 1: Install JB4, Flex Fuel Kit, and dyno completely stock with 91 on maps 0 (JB4 off), map 1, 2, etc. Then we'll throw in some E85 and see how far we can get with just a stock flash, JB4, and moderate ethanol mixes as trims will be our limitation.

Dyno is scheduled for August 5th.

Phase 2: We'll go FBO with intakes, charge *****, plugs, and CPI to see how far we can get while still on the stock flash. Dyno with 91 and JB4 map 0, 1, 2, etc. Then we'll switch to E50, see how far we can get and then we'll turn on CPI to max out fueling or turbos, whichever comes first.

Dyno TBD

Phase 3: We'll install the BMS BEF and run straight E85 to max out the stock turbos.

Dyno TBD

Phase 4: We'll install a set of Pure Stage 2 turbos and take it to about 700whp where we'll leave it.

Dyno TBD

Other upgrades we'll be testing along the way...

-**’s are coming for this car for track events but will probably hold off on installing those until we determine they are limiting power output.
-Intercooler
-Heat exchanger

If there's anything you'd like to #'s for and we can accommodate that while dyno'ing, let us know and I'll see what I can do.

Hey guys...we've completed phase 1 and have the results.

Despite it being very HOT (118 degrees at the dyno) we went ahead and baselined the car as well as got some numbers for the JB4 on Map 1.
Car was 100% stock on 91 octane fuel but still managed 470whp with the JB4 set to map 1 and we were pleasantly surprised to see 430whp stock given that BMW claims 405bhp.

Here are the logs for the stock run and the run with JB4 on map 1. IAT's were extremely high at 140-150 so again pleasantly surprised that it didn't pull timing.

Stock

Map 1

In addition to baseline we did some Dragy testing to see where we were starting. For stock, we had a DA of 3080 on a non-prepped surface.

When we did the map 1 testing it was warmer and a bit more humid so DA was 3900

Now that we've completed phase 1 and have the baseline #'s we'll move on to phase 2 as we have lots of part to install.

BMS Chargepipes, intakes, oil catch can, and Fuel-It! charge pipe injection kit...

BMS intercooler

Fuel-It! Flex Fuel kit

DeePee's for track use are also scheduled to be here in a couple days...

Now that phase 1 is completed we are moving on to phase 2 and adding all the bolt ons and then we'll put it back on the dyno. This weekend we completed the topside of this phase and once the DeePee's arrive tomorrow, we'll get it on the lift and complete the bottom side.

This round includes the following:

*Fuel-It! Chargepipe injection kit
*BMS 600hp S55 package
--JB4
--Elite chargepipes (hot side and cold side)
--Elite intakes
--Intercooler
--NGK plugs (Gaped to .02")
*BMS Oil catch can

Before pic...

Post install pics...

We'll have to take some more pictures when we finalize the S55 specific kit. Fuel source currently uses our PnP adapter at the HPFP connection under the manifold. We could also consider an optional connection at the tunnel so people don't have to remove the intercooler and manifold. That may be a nice option as well.

Got in the DeePees from N54tuning...those are now installed and fitment was great. No surprise as we've been running them on the M4 for a few years now. Other positive note, by switching those out, the M2C has now lost an additional 8 pounds.

Flex fuel kit is also installed but that is a new prototype kit we're working on and will be releasing pretty soon so no pictures yet. However our standard kit for the S55 is still available for those as well and that fits the M2C.

Now all we have left is a little tuning and then we'll get it back on the dyno to get some numbers for phase 2 of this build.

Do you have any photos? I'm wanting to install this (probably on the J side) on my S55 (M4). Just want to see how involved the install is. Could you elaborate on the connection that doesn't need the manifold to be removed? That doesn't sound too fun.
