Default BMW N63 Engine Real World Issues - 09-23-2020, 11:58 PM

I have a 2013 BMW 550 with the N63 engine. There is much negative publicity on this engine. I am curious if you personally have issues with this engine and what they were. Mine is approaching 140 000 km and expect for heavy oil consumption, have no issues. Should I keep the car for another 30 to 40 k? I love the car and in general it has been great.10.0.0.0.1 192.168.1.254

Mine had heavy oil consumption for 2 years (1 Quart every 800 miles or so) and it drove perfectly normal. Later it started to misfire as one cylinder was low on compression. I had a new engine put in about a year ago under the class action law suit for the N63 issues. I think it was called the ban settlement if I remember correctly. I paid a percentage for the new engine based of mileage. It's a common problem with these engines.

I got rid of my 2012 750Li because oil was going into the turbos and intercooler. Unfortunately, that was before the class action suit, and the dealer told me I was looking at a $30-40k bill to get it right.

No regrets. Got to play with a couple of N55s, and now I'm back with a N63TU3, which hopefully will be better.
