Default Looking for N20 RB Upgraded Hybrid Turbo Tester, free turbo!! - 09-09-2014, 06:47 AM

Free N20 RB Upgraded Hybrid Turbo for someone to test out. Must be FBO and willing to push the turbo and tuning to see what can be attained power wise. Dyno minimum requirements but some drag racing is appreciated as well (not sure if there is much to compare with OEM Turbo traps?).

Preferably someone who understands how to tune the JB4 with support of Terry. Must be willing to pay for install (or install themselves) and get installed and tested with reasonable quickness. Must be willing to pay core charge in advance but would be refunded in full when you send back your original turbo to us.

And by the way we have no idea on gains, this is what you are here for is to test the unit and see Turbo available within 2-3 weeks. There will be one tester and this will be updated when one (if one presents itself) is chosen. No unit will be sold until testing proves beneficial, unless anyone additional wishes to purchase at MSRP during the beta testing process (thus being a tester themselves).

Thanks,
Rob

Is it independent of electronic wastegate or not?
I'm on EWG with occ, ctless dwnpipe, intake, wagner fmic.
Next mod is ER chargepipe.

I'd have to defer that question to Terry really. Does one or the other have some limitation that would be important in testing the turbos? From my perspective though there is no difference so it wouldn't matter… the housings all seem to be provisioned the same it is just a matter of which wastegate is bolted to them.

Good call.

I have heard some horror stories about the N20. Figured most knew about them, hence lack of response for a free turbo! Haha.

Having a free'er flowing turbine could help, but maybe not. None of the data seems to be concrete about failures… so there is no real certainties. Terry seems to push the crap out of his and doesn't seem to have had any issues though...

Either way there could be some myth or truth into the stories. Given that we are talking taking large risks if there is truth, it may not be worthwhile to pioneer this for many. Some others may find the reward is worth the risk, and most certainly would if it turns out to be myth.

Well worth noting of this or any other issue with the N20, that there could be some risk since it mostly is uncharted waters.

Rob

I'm already on EWG harness with EWG firmware, so i hope it doesn't matter :-)

I'm interested, what informations did you need from me?

I would have jumped on this if I had an n20. Great opportunity put forth by Rob and I'm surprised that no one has stepped up. If you need a tester for the Super RBs I'm willing to install them asap and get back to you with all the data

Rob
I am willing to do it, but I don't have supporting fuel and I am missing out the FMIC to be FBO

Wish I had access to E85 or even grade higher than 91 which is not available all the time

@Rob@RBTurbo: It would be easier if you would send an turbo out to interested customers.
I´d talked to you and to pure turbo, because i´m very interested, but nobody want´s to send a turbo to germany...

Sorry we'd really like to keep the tester in the USA.

We are looking for an ideal candidate for this. You'd need to be full bolt on modified, tunable with JB4 and possibly back end flash, etc.

The turbo we are looking for the best possible candidate to demonstrate the increase in power potential… so you'll want to make sure you do everything else first to get your N20's OEM turbo maxed out.

Thanks,
Rob

Yes please. We have about 25-30 N20 cores, all prepped up to machining, all custom turbines and compressors in hand, just awaiting the right person to test one out.

We highly suspect this will open up a new mindset of potential for this engine… less Back Pressure more airflow/power at lesser boost. Just waiting on the right person to decide to take the dive!

Thanks,
Rob

Rob, kind of OT but what do you think about doing a turbo for the b48 motor in the new mini?

At the moment we don't know anything about that turbo, what brand, size, ability to be modified, if the platform is ready for it, marketability,… etc… but what I can say is that this coming year we will be going hard to increase our offerings into each BMW engine, with extremely fair pricing.
