Default Menu 4/4 - 05-26-2018, 07:18 PM

Menu 4/4
Sorry if this has already been covered elsewhere.
My tuner wants me to ditch jb4 and go standalone mhd.
I'd prefer to keep it.
Is menu 4/4 an option as a pass through for a custom flash and if so will the jb4 still run my pi and meth?
Thanks!!

You want to run meth trigger 4.This will make the jb4 act as methanol controller in all maps. I'm running full custom flash map 0 meth trigger 4. You might have to reach out to Terry and have him make you a custom firmware. meth trigger 4 wasn't working until he enabled it in a new firmware revision.

What tuner? Wedge can make you a custom JB4 BEF map, as can Trebela and other reputable tuners.

Tuner is out here in Australia Bud.

I would prefer to stay jb4 mhd bef.
Locally I don't think even the PS2 cars have matched my ET or MPH at the strip so I'm pretty happy.
There seems to be a trend of guys moving to MHD standalone, I also get quite a few contact me regarding misfires which I don't want to go back to.
I was 25psi misfire free back a while.
My car is still plagued by a crazy shutdown but we think we're getting closer to solving it, hopefully its some intermittently failing 02 sensors.
All mods are removed at the moment for fault finding.
Once repaired we are going to dial her in.

Thanks for the response!!

Throw some logs in this thread if you need some tuning advice. You're not going to "fix" any thing by going to a more limiting tuning environment.

I'm recently switch from jb4 but I need it to run the bms wmi kit. I've been searching all afternoon trying get info on this setup. Do you leave the jb4 connected to the canbus? Any settings other than Map 0 and meth trigger on all maps?

I ditched jb4 and tried it mhd alone. 25 tune interations with one of the best tuners and now i am back happy jb4 user.

I plan to do a big build thread sometime this year and will post all the log differences etc etc. most people these days will say to ditch the jb4 and there is logic in doing so. The issue is the dme is very complex and mhd has only cracked so much. Even if everything was cracked there are so many cross references in the dme that is very hard to cleanly make the changes we want. There are pros and cons to controlling the wgdc outside of the dme tables.

Jb4 offers to much value and not enough cons. For me the deciding factor was easier meth and pi control but most importantly the ability to divorce load ceiling from wgdc. Using mhd I get huge timing drops and shut downs due to excessive torque. My cars making 650+ whp and 700+ wtq and the dme is pulling timing and sometimes killing car completely due to torque.

I've noticed that a lot of people with upgraded turbos go the JB4+BEF route because of the tuning ability. I like to tinker and I'll be upgrading my turbo soon but most of the guys in my group chat keep saying to go flash only. I have the BMS meth kit and I'm trying to use it with MHD. Have it on map 6 at the moment and my logs are pretty much the same(with added throttle closures) as JB4+BEF *♂️.

I wrote up a comparison to try to explain my story. I will do a proper build thread later after I install my CF roof . Please consider:

Good to hear. And we're always here and happy to help on the JB4 front. Just post the logs and complaints, and we'll help you sort it.
