TREBILA Performance N55 F series Custom flash and full JB4 support -
01-21-2018, 03:17 AM
Hi guys
just finished tuning my first N55 F serie.
It's a 2011 F10 535i N55 PWG , stock turbo, on low octane pump fuel (something between 91 and 93), leaving in a very hot country (30-37°C , 86-100F) with those mods:
BMS Intake | ER 4" ***-less Down-Pipe | ER Charge-Pipe | Wagner-Tuning Competition Inter-cooler.
I had to drasticaly richen AFRs, to fix the really bad timing we got at the beginning of the tuning process.
Customer is pretty happy with results (i'll let him review here).
Here is a log of a 3rd-4th-5th upshifts run, on custom map 6 boost targets:
FBO N54 AT 135i 'vert with JB4 and Trebila Performance custom flash
you'll notice JB4 targets higher boost than turbo is capable in 4th, because of DME Boost targets higher than map 6 ones.
I prefered to target higher load in the tune.
once the underboost code will be found and released in xdf, and once the JB4 will follow only the map 6 boost targets (need a firmware update), and not the highest value between map 6 and DME Boost targets, boost targets will fit perfectly what turbo is able to build.

He knows his stuff, he knows what he is doing really !
and he answers all my E-Mail's in no time (its like hes a genius tuner that doesn't sleep)
He sends the tune, i log then send back and he sends the better tune and story goes on, he is always On !
Finished Saying that, Now let's talk about the BEF, the car david is referring in the first post is mine, (2011 F10 535i N55 PWG , stock turbo, on low octane )
I live in a very hot area, where Temps reach 40'C easily. and We only have low grade fuel i guess "93 Octane"
I had the JB4 only but didn't really feel the Car pull Smooth and was a little Jerky and wasn't as near as powerful as its now.
on my best log with the JB4 only at map 5 i was hitting "10 PSI max" with crappy timing because of the IAT's and the carpy fuel !
Now i am hitting 16PSI with Great Timing ! and no jerkiness, It's only smooth power delivery to the end. its smoother than ever ! On WOT its a freaking Train now. i Can't express how happy i am.
I attached another Log that is even better showing his great work.
As he said, We are Just waiting for the underboost code to be found and released in xdf and for the JB4 Update to come so that it can follow only the map 6 boost targets as BEF requests.
and BTW i was hitting Boost Exactly on target but was getting Underboost Codes,,So for now we will wait for the underboost code to be released so we can fully finalize the tune.
Believe me the price you pay is really nothing for the great work and all the time he will give you . we did more than 50 Email's and 10 tune corrections in less than a week !. This is the best bang to buck mod you will get on the market
David @TREBILA Is the only performance Tune That i highly recommend to anyone that Needs a Tune. you will never know you had a sleeping beast before his Tune.
All of that I (kinda) know, but why does a BEF play ball better with JB4 compared to an OTS? Just because the boost target isn't as high?
An OTS map is supposed to be a stand-alone solution. It controls everything, so if you have a JB4 trying to control boost and other stuff, they will kind of be fighting each other.
Thats why a BEF specifically for your vehicle, mods, and goals will be better than an OTS map, as a BEF.

Thanks for your posts and feedback about David's BEF tune, much appreciated! I have been emailing with david for a couple weeks about a BEF for my 13 335i pwg with kittliss deepee.
Was hoping i could pick your brain for some more details. I know you probably havent dyno'd the car but what does your butt say as far as increase in power/torque over your mods with jb4 only? Is it a noticeable increase in power/torque?
Do you find the car the be a lot smoother in power delivery and most importantly for me.. .under partial/light throttle? I feel as though my car with jb4 doesnt feel smooth under light throttle and just normal driving, almost like little tiny stumbles/misfires that most people likely wouldnt notice at all.
Smoother idle? Any other noticeable benefits provided by his tuning that you can describe for me?
I just want to make sure that it will be a noticeable improvement to my car and not just something to say i did it or something to gain a few horsepower, actual everyday driving improvement is what i am after!

Didn't dino the car yet, but my butt dyno had a lot to say about the increase in power/torque it was very much noticeable i even didn't need a dyno to tell the difference. And also It's even more stable Revving at WOT.

Yes Much smoother in power delivery, since my fuel wasn't good , So i had timing corrections which made WOT not that smooth.
under partial/light throttle: It wasn't smooth on JB4 only , but now its better and more responsive than before.
You can Send a log to David and he can tell you if His BEF will help alot in your case or not.

No difference in Idle.
Mainly the noticed benefits to me is the smoothness in driving that i got
and much faster WOT since i was on 10 PSI with JB4 alone and now going to 16 PSI.

If it was to me as i sed in my first post,
the price you pay is nothing, this is the best bang to buck mod you will get on the market.
& driving improvement is much noticeable.
You Do need A BEF, And David is the Best in this Field so don't think about it, Just go for it.
Gotta say that looks solid! Job done! Now bigger turbo I'll try to go back to my BEF and see if that work better than the OTS with JB4 for what ever reason.
Now after the BEF and seeing how my car can perfourm, I am really considering getting Pure Stage 1
You should re-consider and jump straight to Pure Stage 2
I would like to do that but:
1)price is too high for me
2)as i understood if i got
stage 1 - i only have to return the stock turbo to Pure to get my deposit back ,,
but if i bought stage 2 - i have to send to Pure every thing that was changed or replaced from stock to pure, and that is alot of waight and the shipping cost in my countrey will cost me alot to get all the staff shipped to USA.
Its already high price for me , i cant aford paying more 775$
If i took PS1 , it will only cost 895$
But PS2 is 2500$
I might waight for now and get PS2 later on..
What was the total waight of the returned staff to pure on PS2 ?
I felt the same way you do but ended up waiting until I could afford the stage 2. If you were doing labor yourself then I would say get the stage 1 then trade for the stage 2. A lot of people that say go straight to stage 2 had a stage 1 and wished they went right to stage 2.
