Just wanted to update, the bimmergeeks cable came in and I flashed it with no problems. It's really worth buying the right cable rather than a cheap amazon one, shipping was pretty quick considering it was over memorial day weekend too

When running stacked JB4 and flash tunes, what is the result when running the JB4 on map 0? Obviously the BMS BEFs are designed to complement JB4 for the best improvements over stock, is there any performance benefit from the BMS flash when the JB4 is disabled/removed?

I did this once (long story).
The car drove fine on E85 BEF with no JB4. Just had a super low boost target.
I couldn't log it as there was no JB4 installed at the time, I don't have MHD logging module or anything similar.
I think if you were lerning to custom tune at home then the JB4 BEF would probably be a good starting point

I am experiencing some mild bucking/misfires. I did some logs at the track but I don't really know how to read them or what to look for. Anyone know what could be wrong?

Hello, I have a 2012 335is. I read the thread terry made about the 335is and it’s timing and stuff. I’m here to get a bef for it. Which one should I use?

I am trying to flash back to stock from the latest "pump" BEF through the BimmerBoost 1.3.3.1 software with a BavTech cable. When I write my stock flash that I originally saved, the car won't start. The ECU goes into recovery mode. It seemed to write okay and take the full 17 or 18 minutes but the car won't start.
I have to flash the BEF to get my car to run and it runs okay like that. I tried the stock flash a second time and it still didn't work.
Do I have to do a force write with the stock flash or am I doing something wrong?

What happens if the BEF is completed, but the JB4 was still set to map 5?

when flashing via the mhd app, do any of the mhd settting options interfere with the jb4 settings?
for example, the mhd has a wastegate position setting, and jb4 does as well. also there is a cold start option, but i think the jb4 bef's include this already right?
what settings can we select that will not intefere with the jb4 setting? using the mhd to flash a bms bef

Nothing, I've done this a few times.
I think there was a firmware update in the JB4 that automatically switches to MAP0 when you plug the cable in.

I have a new set of dp’s that I’m going to install in the next few weeks. I’m also going to do a mhd bef and was wondering if I should wait to do the bef until I install the dp’s? Main reason is the cel that I don’t want. I’m wondering if I can go back in and take care of that after if I go ahead and do the bef now?

Not really sure.. I asked the same question in facebook n54/55 group and they told me only the US backend flash isn't working anymore for hiding the CEL. The europe one is doing it. For example I'm going to use the : JB4_I8A0S_PUMP instead of JB4_I8A0S_PUMP_USA. Can somebody approve that's true?

Can anyone approve that? Terry for example or someone else who is familiar? I'm located in Europe, Bulgaria and will be installing ********* this week. After that I'll install the backend flash (JB4_I8A0S_PUMP.bin **NOT the USA version**) to the DME and now I'm wondering together with several other guys if this flash will prevent the O2 CEL from appearing.

MHD JB4 license boost ceiling -
06-25-2019, 08:21 PM
I am trying to match JB4 and BEF boost targets up to 21-22 psi, and later maybe go menu 4/4. However, I can’t seem to get the DME_BT above 18.7 (boost ceiling, load target, load-torque tables via TunerPro). Now it dawns on me that MHD may not write those numbers and maintain, e.g., the 1.28 bar ceiling no matter what’s in my custom bin.
I’m fine with upgrading to full flash with mboost option, if that’s what it takes, but before, I’d like to understand how it works. If I buy the full license with mboost, should I use “custom flash” instead of “backend”? This way, can I write my bin 1:1 to the DME without any overriding by the MHD flasher?

Probably need to email MHD about that.
I'd be interested to know if MHD is editing the Boost target in the BEF when using their cheaper BEF option rather than the custom flasher option.

So I flashed the DME with JB4 BEF via MHD yesterday. Everything went well, I've set the menu 4 to option 2 and running map 1 currently (Boost is hitting 15psi which is the target) . Can't say if there's any difference in the car.. even I can feel it's more sluggish or IDK.. Something to mention is I'm with OEM cats and at the end of the week dawnpipes will be installed but yesterday when I was flashing in the MHD additional options as burble and etc I didn't select that I'm using OEM cats but instead I left it unchecked which means it thinks I'm with dawnpipes. Could that be a problem, make the car sluggish or something else? I also have rattle and in order to prevent it JB4 menu 10 is set to 800, menu 11 to 3000 and menu 12 to 1600. That I think are the best settings which I could achieve cruising yesterday. Any opinions will be appreciated , thank you!
