Default EML Code appearing?!? - 11-24-2016, 04:30 AM

Newbie - First time poster!

Hi all

I'm based in Ireland and currently driving an LCI E91 manual 335i m-sport touring. This is my second 335i, previous was a pre-lci E92 auto se coupe.

So, bit of an issue with the touring right now, she keeps flagging a CC ID 29 code and as it's under warranty have her back with the dealer. Dealer is telling me that there is some kevlar-compound O-ring / shim type thing located under the camshafts which is only found in 2009/10 n54 engines to make them run a little more economically!?!

Personally I have never heard of this and find it difficult to find info online! Either way, the dealer reckons this is the cause of the eml code. I had the code read by a different main dealer, and an indy specialist and both said it is a possible wastegate/actuator issue. The dealer who sold the car says differently. The code fault apperas around 4.5k - 5k rpm just as the second turbo is boosting!

So has anyone ever heard of this unicorn camshaft device? Pretty sure it's not the cam ledges he means! Your help/suggestions are appreciated!
