Can someone let me know if map 6 acts differently than the preset maps. For example the preset map 1 is: 3, 3.5, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 3.5, 3, 2.5, 2. If I were to enter these same boost values into map 6 would map 1 and 6 then behave the same?

If my above statement is correct and and the fact that the stock turbos won’t add much extra boost down low shouldn’t the preset map start off lower such as 1, 2, 3, 4, 4, 4…..?

Default JB4 Log - 09-16-2021, 05:20 AM

Good morning, new JB4 user here. Hoping to get a second set of eyes on these logs. I have a pretty conservative map 6 set up. With what I added, my total boost should not have exceeded 16.5 at any RPM range. I have a 2018 RS, currently using Shell V Power, 93 octane.

I added a map 0 log and a log of my map 6, both making the same run, about 2k RPMs in 3rd, to ~6500 RPMs, then a few hundred RPMs in 4th.

On the map 6 log, I feel it looks pretty good, except for the dip in Ign1. From what I have read, it seems a dip around 4k RPMs is normal, but seeing it dip to 3.5 seems low. FWIW it did dip to 4.5 on my map 0 log. Also, the dip in Ign1 did coincide with the uptick in boost, so is it possible this is ok?

Trims also appear low, but I do still have a stock exhaust (lower *** only), not sure if that would have an impact or not.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Map 6
3k +1
3.5k +2.5
4k +3
4.5k +2.5
5k +2
5.5k +1.5
6k +1

thanks
Nothing alarming in the log, but you need to take it all the way up the RPM scale - FULL THROTTLE - to properly judge. Ideally you can stay in it for a bit in the next gear as well. Just do it safely as you can!

I think theoretically Map 6 could be setup to replicate the stock maps. That said, my car seems to run best on stock maps vs anything I try to put into map 6. Regarding low end boost - no reason to use lower values at low RPM unless you are trying to eliminate wheel spin. At high RPM many users want to taper the boost in order to keep the turbo in its efficiency band.

Darren - the two logs look very similar. I would try some other fuel brands to see what works best in your area. Also weather could be a factor if its a really hot day. I think you should be able to get at least one more psi of boost on your map 6 with quality fuel and somewhat mild weather. For your current tank of gas though I would not go any higher than your current settings.

Nice job logging though - almost ideal pull for someone to look at. Hopefully the BMS folks will take a look for you as well.

Thank you very much for the feedback. I did figure I could run a bit more boost, but wanted to take things slow and make sure the logs looked good (did plenty of research on how to log properly )

Good thought on the gas, I will try a few diff brands and see if the timing improves. I always go with Shell as it is one of the rare Top Tier fuels I can find in my area. The only other TT is Meijer, which I have not tried. I'll report back with findings here!

Last random question, I stayed away from the stock maps because I thought the boost may be a bit high for a RS. Do you think there are any issues with trying map 1? I do think maps 2 and 3 may be too much though.

I think the best thing you can do right now is keep your settings as is so you can get a good read on the fuel. Map 1 should be doable with the right 93 octane fuel. Once you find the best fuel, stick with it (if it's consistent that is). I forget the exact psi adds for each map, but I see most top off at about 16.5 - 17.5 total PSI on quality 93 octane. All you can do is log it and find out once you find the best available fuel.

JCB can you post a picture of what the map 6 user settings should all look like. Mine have all cleared for some reason. Not the actual boost settings but all the parameters below that. Thanks a ton

The only differences on mine are the Default Wastegate Pos, mine came stock at 0, and my TMAP Voltage is 1.9.

I do have different firmware, so maybe that is part of it??? 50/9//5

If you don't have the EWG (Electronic Wastegate) control wires then zero makes sense.

Thanks both of you really appreciate it. I’ll just try 0 for that one as I don’t have EWG. Weird everything is default 0 for me. Didn’t wanna run something that possibly isn’t good

SilentQ - Are you connected to the JB4 when you are looking at the settings? They are not stored in the application when not connected via blue-tooth.

So I updated my user settings and I think I have it right now. this is a preliminary map 6 setting and just wanted to make sure the logs are looking good so far.
