Turbo Poll -
11-18-2016, 05:34 PM
My stock turbo's are rattling so bad, I'm look for new turbo's that if I choose can give me huge power, reliability as car is used as a daily. Future proof option to achieve big power if wanted together with fueling.
Vargas N54 "GC" Stock location
Pure N54 Stage2
RB Super RB EVO
MPP Stage 3
Motiv Single Turbo Kit
Other considerations:
-Support
-Warranty
-Ease of installation
-Longevity
-Low RPM power
-Price
If I've missed an option let me know.

On a side note I adjusted my wastegates which have never been adjusted before and my rattle is now 90% gone. The back one is cake, the front you can shim the actuator bracket with washers by removing the vacuum canisters, radiator fan, and front inlet. I dreaded adjusting the turbos, but it was actually easy and well worth it. At least for now..
Otherwise I'm waiting for mmp cast versions, hopefully in the next 6 months or so!

Reliability and alot of power usually don't go together. I personally would go with pure and stay in the low 23psi range to keep everything safe, sure it won't net u the 600whp,but at the same time you will be alot safer at 23psi vs 27psi..just my opinion

This, you don't need to max it out to have a fun reliable setup.

Thanks for all your votes and comments so far.
I did forget two main options:
1. Hexon Hybrid 2 RR600
2. JP Workz Full Top Mount Precision Journal Bearing Kit
--------------
I know it doesn't make sense, power and reliability. The idea would be to run early 20's PSI for daily cruising. With the capability to do glory runs at higher PSI levels no problem. Just don't want the turbo's to be the bottleneck and have to worry about swapping them out if the power level isn't satisfying enough....

When it comes to a topmount the what you gain between turbos is more spool and reliability over power. Every brand has one that will make the power you want.

Two of the worst companies in this market lol.
FWIW, I've had my VM top mount for over 50k miles as a DD since Apr 2014. I would take it anywhere. Camping trips, Vegas, etc, all over 250+ miles each way. No issues ever at all.

Also depends on how efficient your system is. For example, If your FMIC drops 5-10 psi, its an added stress on the turbos, making them worker harder to target a certain psi. The reliability of a turbo is a direct correlation to your supporting mods.

If this is truly the turbos they offer a 1 year warranty send them in and have them checked, lots of things besides turbos can cause smoking on the n54!
