I did about 8 runs last night on the latest firmware version Map 5. I'm completely stock e90. Max pre-boost I saw was 14.2, but most pre-boost numbers were in the 12.5-13.5 range. This was 91 octane, about 50 degrees out.
What number am I looking at to see how much boost I was pushing? Is it pre-boost? ecu-boost?, or target boost?

Cool! Thanks. Loving this Map5 auto-thing. In my case, appears and feels a bit more conservative than Map 1, but also "smarter" than Map 1. After some more "learning" sessions, I'd like to try some launches and see if there's any difference in traction with the adjusted boost of Map 5 vs. Map 1.

I know this one has been covered before but gonna install my c@tless DP's on tuesday, do I just set the JB4 to auto clear codes? I know it's an all or nothing with deleting codes so with this feature enabled you'll have to monitor if there's any other codes thrown?

Your computer is asking you where the Hex file (firmware update) is........You have to download the firmware (hex file) to a file on your computer....somewhere so that you know where to find it. Then go back to doing what you are doing and open up the file you downloaded.

Correction:
1. Stop what you are currently doing.
2. Go to the internet, to the sticky on this forum and download the latest firmware update.
3. Save this hex file to your computer (take note of the location of this hex file)
4. Go to your JB4 program and run the update firmware.
5. Your program will ask where the file is.
6. IF you remember where you saved that hex file, click on the file and a few minutes later you should be all set. It takes about 2 minutes and you can see the status.

software questions -
02-26-2011, 11:37 AM
I installed the software but there is no link on my desktop nor any sign of it in the program menu. Do I have to click on the .exe file every time I want to use the jb software to update firmware?

The installer puts the JB4 shortcut in a "Microsoft" folder in your start menu

1. Use your search function and find out where you saved the software.
2. You should have a one-touch program launch key somewhere, otherwise you may need to setup the software again?
3. You don't need the JB software running to download firmware, however you need JB software running to upgrade the firmware into your JB installed in your car. Car can't be running, but must be ignition on (LIGHTS ON DASH).
4. You shouldn't have to run an execution file every time you want to run JB software. Just find the program file and the JB launch should be there.

While JB software is running, right click it on your taskbar and select "pin to taskbar". That will create a easy to find shortcut to the JB software.
