535 SAT Trans Flash DIY -
07-09-2016, 12:17 PM
I tried searching, didn't find one. I have the cable and software. Does someone have a step by step DIY on the 535 SAT Trans Flash? Thanks.

No Alpina flash for the e60 but the GKE215 7601458 is a decent flash for that platform (running it on my e61 for a year or so without issue).

I have got stuck on this for a 2010 e61 535xi - just fitted SAT gear lever and it is working fine, I have the paddle wheel to go in - both from 2008 535.
I want to just add the SAT firmware next and take this one thing at a time.
INPA 5.0.2 is working fine, can can poke around the modules so I assume I am all set on that front. I have not done anything except read things.
Here is what I am doing
-Make sure your battery is good if not get a battery charger
-Open drivers door and turn ignition ON (cluster guage on) Basically hit the start button twice without starting car..
-connect cable to obd connector of car
-Load Winkpf software
-Press (F1) comfort mode
-Press (F3) Update ZUSB
-Choose ECU GKE215
-Press (F2) Choose ZUSB
-Choose ECU GKE215 and next to it there will be ZB-Numbers..Find 7601458
(7601460 is the non-sport programming (to revert). 7601458 is the sports auto programming)
Here it is going pear shaped, I cant find those numbers, closest I see are
7601480
7601488
7601490
7601492
7601494
Can anyone point me at the miss step I took to get here ?

Did you get a resolution to this? I ran into the same problem and I think it has to do with outdated SP DATEN?

It is the data, I did not write down the steps, but I installed the latest data and then it all started to work. I suspect (uneducated) it is not the data persay but correctly attaching the correct car data which happens when you update, you have to unzip some stuff.
The virtual machine image I started with was set up for a different vehicle I think and maybe the e61 in my case was not installed.
I wish I had written it down but I was just so relieved I rolled with the success and moved on to the next thing, but I expect someone who is not blundering along in the dark like me can say more.
2010 e61 BMS intake, BMS Meth, ER FMIC, New, injectors, plugs and coil packs. BMS race back end flash. XHP Sport flash AT gearbox and paddle shifter conversion, BMS oil catch can, new hpfp,WMI tank cap w/safety check valve, n20 boost sensor

If I'm understanding this correctly, this flash via WinFPK is just something simple that may take like 5 min and it'll net positive results vs those who wanna do the full SAT swap, paddles and all? I'd prefer to flashing something simple onto the GF's car to make it feel like an improvement for when I randomly drive it vs spending another $500+ on her car on she could care less about :-)

Correct, the software is what matters for SAT function, definitely do that flash first. Cheap, easy, and effective.
Paddle shifters are a welcomed addition if you (or her) have sporting intent but don't waste your money on the gear selector.

Thank you for following up. I thought I had adequately new SPDATEN files, but I must've been mistaken. I updated to 59.4 and 760158/760160 both showed up in WinKFP. Thanks for the insight.
