Default DTML JB4 Flex Fuel Using the Fuel-it Analyser? - 07-28-2020, 12:57 AM

I have read that you can use the voltage output from the fuel it analyser in to the DTML pin on the DME to get flex fuel working with an actual flex map. Terry mentioned it in one of the early Flex threads.

Can anyone confirm exactly what needs to be done when using the Fuel-It analyser instead of the motiv? I tried it late last year and couldn't get the e85 content to show on the JB4, i was using some test firmware Terry sent me but never had any luck and basically put flex fuel aside.

For the last year i have just been running the Fuel-It output straight in to the JB4 and using it as a e content gauge, its been perfect. However recently got a custom tune done on the car and want to the car running proper flex fuel.

I have gotten further than last year but it's still not right.

I disconnected the fuel-it output from the JB4 and wired it in to pin 16 on the DME for the DTML input. I have flashed a flex map, using both the back end flash option and the custom map option in MHD (in case it makes a difference). And i can see in MHD monitoring we now have 3v going in to the ethanol content sensor input, however it is showing Ethanol content at e100 when it's only got e60 in the tank.

On the plus side i can now see e100 on the JB4 app as well. But obviously both should be showing e60.

One strange side effect, my LPFP is now sometimes reading 147psi. Sometimes, then works normally others.

I haven't started the car yet and thought i better make sure this is possible with the fuel-it analyser before going any further.

Thanks in advance for any ideas on what i should do.

Just a quick update. Both the custom tune and the map i got to test from Terry last year were both just scaled for the Motiv analyser, not the fuel it. Got a new map from the tuner and everything seems to be displaying correctly in both MHD and when i run the JB4. Time to start it and go do some testing i guess.

So it appears it is possible with the fuel-it analyser if the flex map is configured for the fuel-it output voltages.

I would like to see how to set it up in the JB4 with BEF....

The bluetooth application is reading fine (~E77), but the JB4 read (~E50). I am using the spot 2 in the JB4 harness since the spot 15 is taken by the BMS PI controller. Please does any1 knows how to set it up in the JB4 app. I Did set to 58 the FUA (assuming is the "Future Use A") like the instructions said. I don't know what is means by "ethanol content reported as Duty C".

I could be wrong here, but have you set meth scaling to 99?

+1 you need a jb4 degree to get everything working

The problem has been solved and it is working as intended
