Mercedes C43 Methanol Injection FSB Installation Questions and Information Thread -
05-28-2020, 08:37 AM
I’d like to start a thread about Methanol Injection, FSB and JB4 integration, General Questions and Information, so that users can have a reference when they embark on the above installation.
I’ll start with a couple of questions and as they get answered we will start to compile much needed information.
1) What size nozzles to use. Terry recommends twin 7gph nozzles before intercooler.
2) Where do we get the switched power for FSB in the engine bay.
3) Do we fuse the switched power line or the fuel pump positive wire line and what size fuse do we use. What gauge wire do we use going from FSB to pump.
4) What slot numbers on the AMP connector do we use for the FSB Orange and Blue wires.
5) Does using a pump, nozzles or solenoid from a manufacturer other than BMS cause issues or inaccuracies with JB4? Do we need to compensate any settings/values when using other brand parts.
6) Does WMI settings automatically apply to Map6 settings.

The FSB includes a fuse holder and 10amp fuse, which can be increased up to 15amps if needed.
The FSB orange goes in spot 3, blue in spot 16. Basic install is same as WMI guide on our site.
We suggest using our pump and solenoid as they are electrically matched to the FSB. But in theory non-BMS components for either can work.
There are JB4 settings based on what you're trying to do specifically on the tuning end. A flashed car will be setup differently than a factory flash car, for example. Email us a log once the hardware is installed and we can review for you.

Thank you for the information, the FSB wiring info especially.
Are the WMI settings based off the aggregated boost of the car’s ECU and JB4 Boost, or only based off JB4’s additive boost? I ask because if someone is running Map2 for example it is +5psi across the board, but if Map6 it would be a custom profile. And if we’re running Map0, it would be zero additive boost, but will the WMI still run?

By default meth only flows on the progressive meth map so boost is only increased as a function of meth flow. There are other options available depending on specific situation.

Could you outline the basic settings so that we can understand how the JB4 controls the methanol injection and boost. I’ve installed Snow Performance and AEM controllers before and they are very straight forward. I’d like to know the possibilities and options that JB4 has for the C43, and will certainly help my understanding on how to set up the JB4 for methanol injection.

Can I run methanol injection in Map6, or do I have to run Map7?
As I understand it, if I run Map7, I can set the additive boost above stock boost and it varies in magnitude according to the meth flow.
What if I have a custom Map6 and want to run methanol injection while keeping my custom Map6? Is this possible?
Is there a Meth Safety Mode that I can set so that it run progressive on Map6?

Meth can be injected on any map you want and a safety system can be enabled on any map.

Missed your post, per the WMI install guide. 40 additive, 60 scaling, 9psi min boost are fine to start.

Let’s say I would like to run Water Injection without methanol, for example, if I’m not looking to add more boost, but want to do WI for better general running. I live in an extremely hot climate and find that fine water droplets suspended in the air during a rainy day and the most created by cars on a wet road really makes the car run much smoother, plus I like the steam cleaning effect it might have on the valves of a direct injection car.
In this case, what values should I put into the JB4 app to run WI without methanol?
