I really like the 550 and am considering one but have heard the horror stories about the N63. That said though, I have an N54 that I've basically just done proper maintenance to and have had no issues with. Going on 140k miles on original turbos tuned for the last 80k miles or so. I've had to replace the hpfp once and aside from that its been the things that fail on any car like the alternator and water pump. So my question is, is the N63 like the N54 where some people have a terrible time but for the most part owners dont have a lot of issues as long as they maintain it? It’s depends on the version. The early ones are trouble prone. The TUs drink oil. The TU2 and TU3 seem to be no more trouble prone than anything else, just way more expensive to fix when they fail.

I have had mine since new, early 2012. Been running Dinan Stage 2 since new and JB4 piggybacked on top since 2015, running 20 psi for 6 years.

Only few problems. Replaced turbo oil lines under warranty and Y vacuum connnection on intake. No oil consumption problems but I have changed the oil every 5-8,000 kms unlike nearly everyone else since in those early days, warranty oil changes by the dealer were only recommended every 22,000 Kms!!! Also used true synthetic Amsoil or Mobil.

I have a 2013 550i the original engine had the CCP done to it but still ended up having to change out the engine. Prior to changing the engine I had to add oil constantly. After replacing the engine havent had oil consumption problems, but i am still having 02 sensor issues even after changing all of them. So its been up and down but the car is a beast to drive.

My question are:

1 Are there any signs that will tell you that the failure is coming soon?

Right now there do not seem to be nay signs. No smoke, runs great.

2 Is there anyway for me to check what work was done when they did the CCP?

3. What other things are expected? I can handle a decent amount of work myself. I fixed my turbo wastegates so I'm comfortable with working on it.

4. Anyone in AZ have gotten their Valve stem seals replaced for a decent price?showbox speed test

Check this out folks. My 2021 M550 can defiantly handle the power upgrades. Putting in some catch cans this weekend. Trying to keep things clean.
