Just did the flash
Set jb4 to map 0
Flashed the car using a nexus 7 and another car as a charger
After compmeting updated the jb4 to 5.14 and set 4/2
Everything went smooth, no issues, 43 mins including the jb4 firmwate update!
Will update with logs soon!
Running the pump flash

Set menu 11 on the wheel to at least 2500, if it isn't already. If it's at 0, the car feels super lagtastic.

More timing, leaner AFRs, and generally smoother driving and power delivery. Don't forget the speed limiter is now stupid high too. :-)

Any needed adjustments to JB4...will I need E85 map or is that only for turbo upgraded cars

I recommend you read the first post more carefully and choose the map for yourself. Make sure to load the latest JB4 firmware as detailed there. Adjust menu 11 as mentioned above but that should be it. Someone chime in if I'm missing anything.

Timing and AFR are significantly different with the E85 map...keep that in mind and log, log, log. Don't guess...know.

2011 E90 here currently running map 7 and E40. My meowless down pype is going in soon. Is the BEF worth it for me? This thread seems to have mixed opinions. I am enjoying map 7 much more than map 5. Not necessarily any faster but much smoother.

335togo and Hydrostream6, I have the same set up and love it. JB4 map 7 E40 stock turbo with Terry's MHD E85 flash. It's much smoother, more consistent, you can add in the PPK exhaust burbles if you're into that. These are still early maps and they'll only get better from here.

Is it as powerful as the jb4 only?

JB4 and JB4 +BEF are pretty different in my mind. I was able to dial in a max effort map 6 very easy with JB4 only. After flashing the E85 BEF its taken me about a month of BEF changes and JB4 boost targets/duty bias to dial it in.I would say they are both comparable in power, but the BEF offers significant daily driving improvements. It's smoother and some of my changes increased highway mpg. Also, Justin at Twisted Tuning who is doing the OTS maps, does custom BEF tuning. In his E30 OTS map he was able to squeeze a few more psi out up top, so could potentially get more power too.

As far as I can tell but I didn't do any before and after dyno runs or anything.

Good to here, been watching this thread for over a month and have been looking for some validation to moving forward, not one to analyze logs as a hobby. Just rather mash the pedal and go!

Martial, I have been running the E85 flash for a few weeks now and noticed today that many of my emissions readiness checks are still incomplete. Any idea why that might be? Should I expect to see them complete with your flashing solution?

Thanks in advance - Bryan

The idea is all you should need is to change menu4 in dash to 2 and the JB4 should handle the rest. If that doesn't wind up being the case be sure to share the logs and details so we can further improve it.

So, I take it everyone loves the v5.14 BEF changes to partial throttle?

Major improvement, remember about a month or two ago I was complaining about how ****ty the throttle response was compared to Cobb after loading MHD ? These changes solved all of that and now it's actually better than it was before

5.14 has been great, but I think the safety set at 160degree has been removed as I can see higher than stock boost levels while under 160 and car still cold. Did anything change on this?

The safety is still there. You are just boosting over the lower target. Do a log at partial throttle before the activation and you'll see that.

If you are running flash only, only one monitor should be incomplete. But if you are running the backend, several will stay incomplete due to the deactivation of several codes in the BMS map.

Crap. That means I'll have to uninstall MHD to pass inspection...or make a custom flash-only map to squeak by i guess.
