Default '18 m40i Stage 3 Log Review, please? - 10-27-2018, 06:36 AM

Hello and thanks in advance!

I did 3 runs this morning with 91 octane and Torco booster.

Stock m40i with B58 and JB4.

My goal is to determine if I can jump to Stage 3 with the octane booster. Will you review my runs and verify that I can?

Please and Thanks!
Paul

1. Don't ever do WOT pulls without the engine warmed up and oil temps to at least 160 degrees F. You were only at 141 degrees F on the first run so the JB4 did not ANY boost to the stock boost targets.

2. There are no "stages" on the JB4. There are only "maps": https://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31429

With Torco, your logs look OK. I wouldn't have jumped that high up right away without peer log reviews, but you got lucky.

I don't prefer running Torco or other MMT-based octane boosters full time because they coat EVERYTHING with orange dust (turbo, *****, piping, tips) and is difficult to get off. But it won't hurt anything.

And welcome to the club.

Hey...thanks for the advice. Good call and good to know that JB4 does no boost until at temp.

This was my second log and post.

I did a 1, 2, and 3 with my normal 91 ucktane gas in Denver. Remember 91 here is like 93 at sea level...um ok. Look down a little further in the log posts and see mine.

I put Octane boost into the last portion of the tank and wanted to get three readings on Map 3 (correct...I still like Stage better! You perform better with JB4 and you perform on stage...ha!!)

Now I am back to 91 octante but wanted to know if I can jump to Map 3 (which I interpret as the highest, most performance, unless I get some extra parts and move away from stock) if the need arises.

Normally, I hope to be in Map 1 or 2 with standard 91 octane gas. Hope to jump to Map 3 with 1oz Torco per gallon.

I will look for a local shop that has high octane race gas that I can use rather than Torco. This is my first time using Torco...had to try it. Thank you for the feedback!

Paul

I think this one skipped from the review.

Will you please review my Map 3 logs so I can determine if I can utilize this map?

Thanks!
