Default OBD2 issue? - 08-31-2018, 04:38 AM

Hi guys, first post and it's a cry for help!

M140i RHD 8sp Dec 17 completely standard car on 99ron (similar to your 93)

JB4 fitted plus bluetooth adaptor, install went fine, connected, firmware updated, running sweet on map2 for a few hundred miles.

Went to track and first corner (braking/turn in) and I get drivetrain fault, loss of power. Switch off/on and fault clears. Out on track again, first corner, same issue. This time I checked the codes, the only one I recognised was map sensor fault to earth/ground.

Checked all connectors, codes cleared, started car and drivetrain fault straight away, JB4 app had lost comms and wouldn't reconnect, tried restarting app, no change.

Disconnected OBD2 plug inside car, fault cleared and I done the trackday without issue, (JB4 was still connected to map sensors but not OBD port)

On getting home I removed the Bluetooth module but the fault still came up on OBD2 connection.
I disconnected the small square OBD cable connector at the JB4 and plugged the extension lead into the OBD port inside the car, fault re appeared.

Is that a sign the OBD plug/lead has an issue?

Log of it before issue

Could be an OBD issue but I don't see why that would cause the drivetrain fault

If you reinstall everything except the Bluetooth kit do you have access to the steering wheel menu controls?

Thanks for the prompt reply guys.

I just tried this and no response to the button other than scrolling through the trip data.
I think I can hear the JB4 box click off when the CAN bus shuts down after a few mins of Ign off.....but it may just be something close by!

Probably best to email full install photos to support@burgertuning.com in that case. Make sure to include photos of the top and bottom of the JB4's circuit board from inside the casing as well.

Update on this.

The issue deteriorated to the point that the RPM needle would jump around, JB logging would freeze and the power delivery would get a small disruption. This only happened when the OBD11 was plugged in, the car would still run fine on Map 2 with no OBD11 connected.
Ando sent me a new OBD11 cable and everything is now working again as it was originally
