Default On3 performance kit coming? - 12-12-2015, 09:43 AM

So these guys are coming out with a single kit shipping January for around 3k. My next step is a single and a complete kit at this price is amazing. I would rather have a Motiv kit but can't see spending 8k on top of what I spent on the engine rebuild.

You're going to wish you had spent the extra money and gone with the Motiv kit. Or any other kit for that matter. If you're going to do something do it right the first time. My 2 cents

Honestly people are going to say you get what you pay for and that can be true for this kit, but on3 hasn't historically been terrible by any means. There turbo's perform well. not as well as a PT7675, but they cost half the price and are rather reliable. I know people don't want to hear it and would rather stick their heads in the sand waiting on "preferred vendors" with marketing video's being played to some sort of house music to justify dropping 8k on a turbo kit and brand name, but you have to understand that at the end of the day it's about the material. If they make a decent stainless manifold and piping, I'd rock it and bring my own PT6870 or something.

As for on3, well there are plenty of people using those kits and turbo's in the LS world that are running into the 9's and 10's on a more budget minded setup.

Here is the website with more info just FYI. I don't mind paying 6-7k for a great all CNC kit like Motiv, but I have to admit, things are always a bit overpriced for our cars.

http://www.on3performance.com/shop/b...-turbo-system/

Looks like a good kit. Price is almost too good to be true though ($3k for the whole kit, wow). Would be interested to see how this get realized in a few months.

They need to release the system without the turbo for $400 off, or cost of turbo off. I think most everyone would like to replace the turbo with something else.

Guess you just got to wait and see if it's a kit that needs modification or not

I've said it before and I will say it again. Once a reliable single turbo at a normal price comes to market all this stock frame upgrades will be a thing of the past. Look at the supra community only people who run upgraded frames is for emission reasons.

Not saying this will be the kit but jp works at 4200 is close. Get something sub 3500 and say goodbye.

I'm all for doing it right but I don't see the point of dropping 8-9k on a kit for a car that is realistically worth 12-18k. This kit is a good option for people like me. Those that are trying to get a reliable setup with low boost and mediocre power without running 100%e85 and port injection and what not.

My point is if you are looking to have the baddest and fastest and craziest n54 don't buy this kit, but if you are looking to get out of a smoky situation with twins then a kit like this or jp works is the way to go.

I would like to see boost control through the ECU/JB4 rather than a plain wastegate.

Also, anybody have a link to the 45x whp dyno graph?

Obviously you will need to run a MAC solenoid/JB4 with BEF or custom flash tuning (Maxboost for plus 22psi) for boost control.

I've already swapped my twins out once and told myself that if I ever had to do it again, I'd just sell the car first(joking), but now ain't this a new shinny penny. I checked out their sight and this option seems legit. Hell, I might do this anyways...right after the LSD install this spring.

We are not talking about a highly engineered kit, it's affordable so I wouldn't expect record breaking numbers.

I don't think it has anything to do with the kit, they just ran it on low boost and didn't have it tuned correctly. Why I have no idea. It's not like the piping is super under or over sized or incredibly long etc.

I think it would make a bit more sense to just get the JPworks kits for $1300 more and a real turbo

I agree, but if the kit works people will buy it.

I think it has more to do with the turbo they are using, and of course tuning like you said.

Keep in mind they are including one of their $300 55mm turbos with the kit, which is a fairly small turbo of unknown quality.

I spoke to them earlier today. I was told that we can plan for a release in February or March of 2016.

The person I spoke to confirmed that they will offer a hot parts kit with the choice of a complete kit with their turbo.
