Did this a couple of weeks ago. Make TBI a much more usable package. Thanks for the post.

Just wanted to share some info with the N55 crowd regarding fuel trims. I use the TBI kit primarily at the drag strip/autocross and have issues with IAT's climbing to 130+ while waiting in line with the car off. I added a CM5 meth nozzle to help and wanted to share the results. Pre meth nozzle I would get one good run and then avg ign would go up as my IAT's settled around 130 sitting in line. The car would cool off to 120 degrees but that still caused Avg Ign to climb. Post meth nozzle, my IAT's sitting in line were 110 or less depending on how long I let the car cool and Avg Ign did not rise.

I run e55-60 depending on ethanol quality, 80% meth/adder = 65 and had issues with excessively rich AFR's due to negative trims. I've come up with the following fuel scalar table after numerous limp modes! My e85 flash is the same high timing/richer afr PI flash by Fuel-It...just with a modified fuel scalar table. Rom = 98G0B

The attached log does not show how well my IAT's drop but does show how my Trims are not forcing AFR rich using E55 with TBI and meth.

Also, if running high concentrations of ethanol and TBI or PI, I would recommend running our E85_PI flash that is on the first page.

Steve,

I just got my TBI in the mail. I don't have the backend flash yet (scheduling the downgrade soon.) I have Pure Stage 1 and stage 2 lpfp on my 2011 n55. Can I run full e85 with the boost turned down until I get the BEF on the stock(ppk) flash? Also should I run the e85 bef or e85_pi bef?

I will of course review logs throughout the process.

Thanks!

You can run E85 with the boost turned down but depending on your target there may be no need. You'll need to keep an eye on trims though as once these step outside the DME's current operating window and FOL is at it's limit, you'll either need to change E % or BEF.

Also, make sure you increase levels slowly as I've found the N55 to adapt quite slowly, especially if you have PPK loaded - in some cases, PPK can be less tolerant to E than non PPK.

With regard to the E85 or E85 PI flash there are a few differences. I'd go for the PI version as it's tailored more towards the use of a supplementary fuel system - for example decaying scalars.

Thanks! Installing the TBI tonight and will report back.

You'll likely need the flash to run that ethanol content or may get lean codes at idle and cruise. I would recommend waiting to run TBI until you get that and switch to E85 or it will be too much fuel.

Yes and you may have also have a weaker HPFP. If so running ethanol and especially higher concentrations of it will require supplemental fueling much earlier than those with the older style HPFP.

Due lack of BEF on F series N55, and weaker HPFP on N55 F series PWG car, will TBI max out PS2 on this platform? With stock flash and JB4 ISO, what's the ethanol percentage do you suggest to start with to balance the improved ignition timing and improved fuel trim ?
