Default N55 Pure Stage 1 Log Check - 07-18-2016, 07:29 PM

Hello,

Please review these two logs

Car:
2011 335i coupe N55 w/ oil cooler, Automatic trans

Performance mods:
JB4 ISO 5.11 w/ FlexFuel Wires, Stage 2 LPFP, DP, BMW PE, CP, 5" FMIC, BMS Intake, Pure Turbo Stage 1, GFB DV, Pure Inlet, N20 TMAP, latest ppk flash, alpina b3 flash

Ambient Temp:
95 fahrenheit

Fuel at the time:
e55ish

Logs:
3rd gear pull from 2500-7000 in manual mode, dsc completely off, kick down NOT pressed.

My Notes:
PWM is high initially and runs very lean when initially going WOT. I want to order the TBI in preparation for Pure Stage 2 or run methanol only to lower IATS and prevent it from running lean (IATs get to 150 after a few hard runs in this weather.) I am no pro so I come here, thanks!

I'd kick up duty bias below 4000rpm but otherwise seems solid to me. PWM being high at higher RPM is par for the source with a Stage1 N55 turbo. Fueling and timing seem fine here.

Thank you! I will repost logs once I adjust them.

Question: The AFR bias settings are not used unless PI, correct? So, I can set those all to zero?

That is correct...it won't matter what they are set to without PI.

Thank you Steve.

Attached are two new logs. 3rd gear pulls. DB from 1500-3500rpm is set to 55. 4000-7000RPM is 50. The AFR looks lean to me at the lower rpms on a 3rd gear only, but okay after shifting to 4th looks okay. Is that normal when doing a one gear pull? Multigear pulls AFR is fine.

Also, once this is refined, do you think I can increase boost anywhere?

Thanks!

You're not going to be able to get too much more out of this turbo. AFR's look pretty normal and trims are fine.

Thank you Steve, should I adjust the DB anymore? FF and PWM seem to have different shapes in the higher RPM range.

You can dial it in a little bit up top, I'd just make all the DB's 65, FF 100 and not decay the DB's up top like you currently have them.

Steve, I adjusted all DB to 65 set the FF to 100 and it learned down. I adjusted the boost a little. Seems to be running stronger.

Logs attached, thank you!

Looks pretty good. HPFP is just about maxed out so I wouldn't recommend any more E85 but looks like you have it pretty dialed in as is and turbo is about maxed out.

I'm running about e55. Would taking it down to e40-45 be enough octane for the boost targets?

Also, any other fine tuning I should do?

Thank you!

Only the logs will tell. Given you do have a couple corrections, I suspect it may not be.

Turbo is close to maxed out so there isn't a lot left in it but you can increase your boost targets if you wish to completely max it out.

Thanks for all your help Steve and Terry! Would there be a benefit to run TBI with Pure Stage 1 to increase the ethanol content to help with timing?

Frankly, there isn't a lot left to be had.
