Default JB4 Connection Error Message - 01-04-2020, 01:04 PM

I recently tried to connect my JB4 from the mobile app on my iPhone and I received the following error message "Error connecting to JB4. Please check your hardware connection".

I previously had not had any issues with the unit since purchasing it back in June 2019. When clicking "Connect" on the app it goes through the stages until it gets to 'awaiting handshake" at which time I get the error message above.

I have not recently disconnected anything from my unit and I also checked all the connections such as the OBD, fuel wires, bluetooth cables as well as the connections directly to the car but everything was secure. I deleted the app and re-downloaded it and I tried connecting with being on my wifi at home. My bluetooth is on and when I look at the bluetooth connections the JB4 shows up. At this time I am at a loss as to what else I can try.

Has anyone else ever had this issue? Any ideas on what I can try to get this working again?

I appreciate any help that can be provided.

-David

For JB4 mobile support just email support@jb4connectkit.com

But usually winds up being a loose connection or phone needs to be reset. In rare cases the JB4 mobile adapter itself fails or is water damaged and we can replace it for you.

So I ended up checking the connections inside the unit and everything looked ok. Per instructions from Art he had mentioned to actually disconnect the connections from inside the unit and then reconnect. I did so but now as a result I am getting the error message of "No Devices Found" or that there is no bluetooth connection. At this point I am not sure what else to do. I may need a new JB4 mobile adapter but really don't know what else to try.

I have to take my car into the dealership for just a routine 12,000 mile checkup within the next few weeks. If I remove the unit but still have Map 2 installed on the car, will this cause any issues to my car? I was hoping to get the car back to stock before going but since I can't change the maps I wasn't sure to do. Would it be best to maybe disconnect the battery, remove the JB4, let it sit for like a half hour or so and then reconnect everything back to stock? Would that remove the Map 2?

I appreciate any further information you may be able to provide.

Thank you!

The JB4 only does tuning while installed. If it's removed the car is factory.

If you want to send in the JB4 mobile adapter and circuit board only while you have it off, we can test both and replace whichever is faulty.

Great to know! I wasn't sure if there would be any issues or not if you removed the unit while a tune was installed. Good to know that it will just go back to stock if the unit is removed.

After trying a few more troubleshooting steps, I think that I am going to send it in to get looked at. At this point I think that would be best to determine what may be going on and what should be replaced.

How should I go about sending it in?
