Default China turbo's from ebay? - 06-29-2018, 04:42 PM

So ive been trying to look up diffrent options for possible turbo upgrades for my newly purchased 335 N54.
First i were looking at the Frankenturbo kit, but many advised against it.
Then i got advised to look at Kott Turbo, but at the same time someone stated that the EXACT same turbo could be had for like 3/5 of the price through ebay..

So has anyone tried any of these China turbo's through Ebay?
What did the perform and last like?
Are there any durable options who would survive pushing 550-600whp through them on full E85 and FBO?

Ah yeah i thought i had read a seimilar thread somewhere here.
However your thread got hijacked by Rob

It would be great it someone actually had tried the ones you had linked or perhaps these --> https://www.ebay.com/itm/Billet-16T-...ak2Hm#viTabs_0

Sure they wont make 700+, but from what ive read all hybrids are lacking in the reliability sector anyway..

Probably wont find many first hand reviews- eBay can be a scary place, especially when dealing w. a vendor overseas.

I'd suggest going w. something with a history and proven track record...

Pure Turbo comes to mind

600whp on a regular basis is actually quite a demand from twins.
I doubt there are too many actually doing that.

I think my GCs are on about 550whp and I rarely get to go full throttle.

I purchased the TD04 16T china eBay turbos and installed them myself. I have about 1400 miles on them; so far they have been great, stock like spool and awesome power. I'm running stage 2 LPFP and I'm out of fuel at 22 PSI on E40 so I will need PI if i want to turn them up.

Although one of the "vendors" claims these are not their stage 2+ turbos. I know there is a china manufacturer who was contracted to make these turbos "to this vendors own specs" and has now approached other vendors to sell this same turbo and that is why you are now seeing these pop up on AliExpress and eBay. The original "vendor" has now had new compressor housings cast with their name in it so they are indeed "not the same".

What ever you believe these are the best bang for the buck turbos out there for under $1000. I would only recommend these if you do your own install and are willing to take a gamble.

These are going to be fine, I'm not to sure they'd be out to sell junk, just to sell it. You can't believe what these vendors tell you about something that they outsource themselves. As long as the oil changes are on par, they'll last a while. There just upset that the same this they were selling at 2k, is now half.

I’ve got the 16ts, with all 3” pipe. Although I have low miles, the run pretty good. There basically a test turbo that I had bought to see if it’s worth staying with the n54 platform. There not even working at 8-10 psi, there 25psi turbos, if all does well, I’ll look into something more solid, but so far, pretty satisfied.

Look into the RB turbos. The RB 2+ are only $2200 or so and can easily support 600whp.

Iíve run eBay turbo kits on other cars (sr20íd 240 & a 1jz MK3 Supra). They arenít terrible to be honest. Donít build boost as quick as a name brand with ball bearings. I ran 20 psi for about 10,000km on the mk3 eBay turbo and had minimal shaft play.

I've been following a "ebay turbo" group on FB for a few months now. From everything I have read, the 17t ebay turbos are a decent option as long as you rebuild them with the turbolab kits with the beefier bushings and seals.

The 19t's are all over the map...horrible quality control, you never know what you are going to get. Some guys have over 10K miles on them with no issues (which really isn't much), and some guys have had them come apart or lock up with only a few hundred miles on them.

Ebay turbos in general are a real roll of that dice....that being said, they are getting dirt cheap...under $1K for a pair of 17t's.
