Hi short question to you.
Do I have to connect the AFR line to the JB4 for a Golf 7 GTI Performance 245ps MJ 2019/2020 with OPF/GPF filter?

Note that the engine in your car is not a Gen3B so if you ever update the firmware its a normal Gen3 motor.
It is only needed for map 2 and up.

What issues would you see if people ran the 2014+ VW Passat 1.8T Gen 3 170hp JB4 on the Gen3b motor? or vice versa?

You mean if the same JB4 was used between the cars? There would be a fuel pressure sensor fault. The Gen3B uses a SENT protocol sensor and the Gen3 uses a voltage based sensor. It is Plug C on the side of the manifold that collects this signal.

Yes, someone was selling a JB4 for a gen3 1.8t Passat and said it can be used interchangeably between that and the gen3b 2.0t passat. Which I laughed at, and asked why you/they would go to the trouble of creating the specific gen3b jb4 if you could just use the existing module.

Likely a question for George.

I installed a JB4 in my North American 2020 Tiguan today and the JB4 mobile app is reporting firmware version 26/3/5 vs 26/2/5. I don't see any release notes for 26/3/5.

Anything worth sharing?

BTW this is my 3rd JB4 and so far I'm very pleased with the performance and reliability of the units.

Thanks.

Hi George (and all),

I'm from Australia and I've got a 2019 A4 40 TFSI (190hp). I was wondering if I need any modifications to run map 2? I'm just looking to keep the car as stock as possible while I've still got warranty on it. Either way I'll definitely be looking at picking up a JB4.

Cheers!

Its fine to run map 2 with no hardware. If you on 98Ron fuel you can run map 3 too.

From all the logs I have seen map 1 is fine to use on 87.

New user digging for TT mk3 Group 2 map recommendations as well as tips applicable for custom map 6 info.

Mine is an oddball and I am hoping someone owning this model can guide me to my custom map 6.

2016 Audi TT 2L Quattro 6sp DSG

Closest VAG relative is a MK7 ??? but no Quattro & DSG

Is there another model I could reference ??

Also !!!

The TT is shared with my wife and we have the JB4 Bluetooth version.
We both have IPhones and mine is paired and operational.
What is needed in her phone with the same car to operate ????

Thank you in advance..
Great Product !!!!!

Wrong section as this is for the Gen3B.

What applies I guess for a Audi A3 Quattro will apply for your car. What octane fuel do you use?

Hi George,

Have you pushed the polo gti any further with an aftermarket intercooler? Was wondering what more could be had if you upgrade the cooling? Maybe 270bhp?

can confirm the Jb4 works flawlessly on the Skoda Superb 2.0TSI facelifted version on the gen3b engine. been running around on the Jb4 for the past month and no codes or issues of any sort, and the boost is amazingly linear. great maps!

one qn: any risks of running map3 when I usually fuel on RON 98 fuel?

Just got my JB4 and installed it this evening. It was a nice and straight forward install using the guide (Thanks for that!). Connected right up using Bluetooth and showed all the information. Took my Tiguan out for a spin and it was a nice change from what it was before. I am using map 1 for now so I can get used to it. I always run 93 Octane fuel in the vehicle. I am definitely glad I bit the bullet and picked one up! I had the 24GB software update done at the dealership a week ago and thought that gave a nice improvement. Hopefully this isn't too longwinded and bored everyone to tears!

Happy you enjoying it. Out of interest did you need to ask for the update or are they doing it on all the cars?

Howdy George, I received a letter in the mail stating that my vehicle was eligible for the update. I asked the dealership about it and made an appointment to get it done. That was the only thing done during that appointment.

Got my JB4 a few weeks back and I'm absolutely loving it. My mate did a blind test on me to ensure I could tell the difference and I absolutely could.

Just a few questions:
1. If I start and operate my car without opening the JB4 BT app, does the car still run at the last map set by the JB4?

2. Has anyone been having any intermittent issues with just the boost and ECU PSI gauges showing up? I've heard it can be an OBD2 issue but I've made absolutely made sure that it's connected properly at both ends. Not to mention, it only happens sometimes. Often, I will drive to a place with only the Boost/ECUPSI gauges working, come back after a few hours and then everything is all good again. I suspect it may be an issue with my phone's Bluetooth connection as I heard someone in the Stinger forums experience something similar.

3. Does the JB4 have the potential of supporting major changes such as new turbos or does that start to deviate away from its capabilities? There still seems to be very little known about the turbo in the A4 B9 190, although I do know the Continental Raxx is found in some of the other 3B vehicles. There's an LM430 hybrid turbo which bolts onto the standard Gen3 A4 and according to the manufacturer, should be able to bolt onto the 3B A4 as well, although they haven't actually done it yet.

Anyway, would definitely recommend the JB4 and in the future, I'll be looking at more mods so hopefully I can extract even more power out!

Hi,

The app is just a window to see what the JB4 is doing. There is no need to be permanently connected for the JB4 to work.

When you dont get data its typically a OBD wiring issue. Double check all is connected well. If that looks good go to the user adjustment page whilst connected. Scroll down till you find the Options parameter and click on bits. Turn on bit 0 and 1 and then hit the green save button. Get out and lock the car for a while so everything can power down. What this parameter does is trigger the OBD to stream data each time the car is started. On some A4 we find its necessary to run this.

On a larger turbo we do not have a large enough fueling ceiling so its not advisable to run with JB4 only.

Thanks,

George

Hello friends, I received my JB4 a few days ago and installed it on my Golf GTI MK7 2017, however when running on Map2 when I accelerate in 2 or 3 gear the expensive cuts the EPC light appears on the panel and the error 6290 is recorded, when I use Map 1 it also occurs however less frequently, but it also occurs.

I'm analyzing the logs and it seems that the ecu_psi sensor in maps 1 and 2 increases much above the real Boost, I even updated the firmware of my jb4 to the beta version after Alfa 60/86/5, I don't know if this is the real problem .

My car has an original catalyst, K&N filter, gasoline here in Brazil has about 87 octane and premium 95 octane.

Does anyone have a suggestion of what the problem is?
