Default A91 E30 Map 3 Log - 03-11-2021, 09:10 PM

Threw in some E70/93 (E30 Blend) and made a pull on Map 3. There's a single 3rd gear pull after leaving the gas station and a 3-4 shift pull after riding around for a few minutes.

CAI is the only mod. If this is good then I guess I go to map 5?

Looks good....please stick with the same thread so it's easier to follow along and keep track of the history (know what you are referring to).

Thanks Steve. I’ll use this thread moving forward.

Should I go to map 5?

You have a few minor corrections so do a few more pulls on map 3 to see fi those remain, and then do a log on map 5 and we'll see how it looks.

Made a few more pulls on MAP 3. Is it normal for the trims to spike when boost initially rolls in? I see the AFR jumps a bit so the trims try to catch it.

Made a pull on map 5. I have the new JB4 with the EWG pre-installed and plugged in, however it does not look like boost is following target. Is there something in the system that I need to adjust for it to react?

Not too bad, bump your FF up to 70.

After doing some research I found the FF adjustment info. I bumped it up to 60 after posting the log and boost was closer to target. I will bump it up to 70 and try to log before I leave for TX2k. If all else looks good, Iíll be happy with where it is for a while.

Everything has looked fresh since the FF adjust was made Steve, so I haven't bothered you anymore about it.

When reviewing logs, do I need to be watching the pre or post boost numbers? I would think the post, since thats what the combustion chamber is actually receiving?

I apologize for the late response Steve. Iím just getting home and settled from TX2k.

What I mean is Boost and Boost 2. If I understand the readings correctly, Boost 2 is after the throttle body and Boost is pre. Which would be better to tune from? Assuming I understand the readings correctly.

Boost 1 and boost 2 are typically used for cars like the M5 that have 2 completely separate banks (and turbos) for monitoring boost in each bank. That said, Terry may be using B2 for post throttlebody on a single turbo application, I never pay attention to that unless it's a platform that I know uses it.

Ok brother! It confuses me a bit. Iíd think the post TB boost reading would be what youíd want to monitor. 🤷🏼*♂️

If it's truly reading manifold pressure AND I was troubleshooting something...yes. Everything else is based off of boost 1.

I'm sorry but we don't offer additional discounts as it would violate our MAP and wouldn't be fair to our vendors.

Steve, can you help me with an overboost issue that Iíve been struggling with?

I installed a dog less Dr.P with V19 (at the same time) and now the boost canít seem to be controlled. Iíve about given up on my end.

I tried a few different maps and also went back to V17. The logs look scary! You can hear the boost fluctuate as throttle closures attempt to interfere with the overshoots. At this point 🤷🏼*♂️

Mods- MST, Dr.P and E30

Yeah, ECU psi is erratic and that is what the JB4 is scaling boost off of. It looked pretty good prior to your DP install based on what I saw. Some issue with the DP?

I'll upload the newest firmware on our B58 G2 and do a couple comp logs to see how those compare to yours.

No install issues to speak of, it has a new gasket and went together like butter...

See attached log with V18. DME boost seems to be flat. FF may need to be lowered to 45 or so? Map 1, E20ish

Iíve been working with the FF and duty bias to try and dial in map 5. Can you review this log? Seems to be a bit of Throttle closures. Am I on the right track? What should I adjust?

Looks pretty good, a little overboost which will contribute to throttle closures but nothing major and the throttle closures are pretty minor so they don't affect performance.

Perfect. What amount of closure is considered bad so I know what to be alarmed by?
