Hey guys,

Today I ran into low HPFP which was resolved after the I turned off and then on the car. The interesting thing is that the CAN communication seems to get lost from time to time.

Please refer to the below log (5th) where you can see that my FUD is 0, everything is logged and I have a lot of logging points (around 50rpms or less between entry).

On the other side, log from the very same time (2minutes earlier) I have few big gaps (300+ rpms) in log LOGGING_GAPS.

I am attaching also FP_H_LOW log where I have good logging points but the FP_H is 2 => I have FF wires connected in my car. I am noticing the FUELEN parameter has some values from time to time. I read that it is usually connected to Port Injection which I don't have .

I started getting Drivetrain malfunction with error lower boost than expected 2-3 times per day without aggressive driving, normal city driving with average pulls from traffic lights.

I also remember, when I was adjusting the DB I got a big drop during acceleration and this was logged. In the log the RPMs from the time of the drop shows 0. Visible in 171119_1441-DROP log.

Any ideas? What should I look for?

P.S. I do feel from time to time that the car runs like a wave - let's say I start in 3rd gear and the car pulls up until 4k rpms then I can feel less power until 4.5k rpms and then it hits again. => I think this CAN communication issue might be the problem for this?
P.S.2 I am using the OBD connector provided with JB4.

Car is 5er F10 2011.

128bit is for slow can bus (bit7). The interesting thing is that this canbus, based on the logs, is not always slow. Sometimes the car runs great and sometimes it accelerates in wave fashion, sometimes has big hesitation 2.5k-4.5k until the boost kicks in.

My car has new spark plugs (I installed the original Bosch). The old ones seemed to be in perfect shape. Didn't noticed any difference after changing them. Do you have FF wires attached in your car? If your car is stock (only JB4) can to share some of your logs to compare the values (can do that on PM).

By 6 cyl timing setting you mean the one in the attached screenshot? To set it to 40?

I am open to any suggestion and to any experiments with the final aim to get a smooth consistent running car.

The N55 doesn't have a low fuel pressure sensor.

Terry, what is then logged in FP_L? Any remarks, suggestion from your side regarding my latest logs?

EDIT:

Here is a new log, 4th gear with FUD 160 (Slow can + Can full time) and 6 cyl timing = 40 and unplugged MAF. Unfortunately again the logging points are not very detailed. Seems that when CAN options are activated the system stops logging 2-6 cyl timing + gear to make the data load lighter which assumably should result in better speed for the main parameters. @Terry, what could be the reason? Also the Firmware version which cn135i says is still the "old" one no matter that I uploaded the T3 hex?

Otherwise, the log seems to be good, FF/WGDC curves also follow each other. Very slight underboost after 5,3k rpms (I've adjusted the DB +2 from 5k onwards now). Seems that the Turbo is at 70% closed gate which should be considered okay, a bit on the higher side, but still not maxed out. Some overboost at the beginning but if I lower the DB settings at low RPMs it would make the daily normal driving a less responsive for WOT sake, thus I think should be fine if I leave it as is there.

ECU_PSI, only for the manifold sensor, currently. Nothing anyone would be concerned with. At some point I needed to look at it and stuck it there.

On the logging since it's slow speed CANbus we only see 1 cylinder, but timing seems to be rolling backwards in it. So this is likely as far as you want to push the tuning on your current octane level. Boost and fueling seem fine to me though.

I assume so. I just drove 150km with cruise control set to 140km. Cruising at this speed I got 11 times Drivetrain Malfunction - assuming it is Lower than expected boost. Is there something that I can change/check. I am still with the MAF unplugged, if this could make a difference and FUD 160.

P.S. I don’t want to push it further, absolutely happy with the drive (when it runs fine, not waving or malfunctioning).

Yes those are good starting points. Log that and lets verify its working right! Since you'll be the first one to test it other than myself.

I tested this a while back for ISO, but I didn't get a consistent offset on the map6 targets when meth was flowing. Has this feature been revised for F-series ISO? I would much prefer this to max out the turbo at high rpm
Looking at the code it appears we left the F PWG ISO programmed to add in the additive as a fixed boost increase over map6 as a function of meth flow, when meth safety mode = 4.

With meth safety mode = 4, on map6, 0-75 additive should be 0-7.5psi boost added under full meth flow.

2013 335xi - FBO with Pure Stage 2 and 93 fuel 16.5 PSI

Running iso firmware

Been fine going to 6K in both third and fourth gear (not all the time!) and tonight I eased the pedal into WOT in fifth and had injectors shutdown with knock codes below, however no limp mode

codes:
152D08 - knocking - injection system shutdown

152508 - super knocking cylinder 5: injection shutdown

Unfortunately I didn't capture in a log and I haven't been able to get a good log in fourth or third. I am running 16.5 PSI and I am thinking it is too much boost for my fueling/octane OR I stomped on it at around 4K and that was still too low of an RPM for fifth gear for me to get on it. The car accelerated and then felt like it bogged and lost power. Resumed normal driving with no engine light or issues. Let her rest and went back out lowered boost to 15 PSI across the board, no codes she ran fine but I didn't attempt to replicate. I apologize for not having logs but does anyone have any input? Or Are there any others who have experienced these codes or know anything about them?
Thanks team

With all fuel bias=100, meth adder=50...why does target jump to 24psi with meth flow? If target is adjusted with both adder and fuel bias then it becomes really complicated
The firmware might not be doing the 3.5bar math on the additive when using your map6 settings. If you lower additive to say 10 what do you get?

I guess I'll be moving that back even more then, I'll try to grab logs soon so we all can see but I'd assume 14 across the board to start would be safe with my mods/fuel. I just hope I didn't do any permanent damage.

I ran map 5 to determine the setup I had on FBO for map 6 I don't know why I skipped that step for map 6 when the turbo was upgraded, I got a little antsy I suppose. I am going to mess around with map 5 and log. I'll probably end up with the 14 PSI suggestion, thanks guys/gals.

Trims at 25 means DME went in to open loop mode (e.g. no longer using O2 sensors but its preprogrammed tables). You want to avoid that as much as possible at full throttle.

In terms of DME BT dropping ideally I'd like to set it to drop the JB4 target more. Maybe limit it to 2x or 3x DME BT... But so many people have bad F series back end flash maps, it would cause various issues for them as their DME BT's wobble about.

You are using integrated firmware. Cut diode, update to PWG ISO, enter default settings on first page, and relog.

Logs are too short and all part throttle, so not useful for tuning. Start with say map2 and log FULL THROTTLE 2k to redline, 4th and 5th gear.

DME BT is hunting around so might be pushing up against a DME fuel limit of some sorts. What fuel, mods, etc?
