Some old version had a bug where when saving the meth page savings it would time out and save garbage. So maybe that was how they got scrambled there. Not really much of a concern unless using meth and if you do use meth if one was set wrong you'd know pretty quickly.

Are you comparing it to 24B or to a different update? 24B has been very smooth for me.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll update as soon as I can. :-)

Anyone know if 24C works well with the Alpina B3 transmission flash?

I agree I had to drive to Philly for work (~360 miles ea way). Ran 23G on the way down, 24B on the way back. Much better low throttle smoothness on 24B. Then yesterday I loaded 24C and wow! My car is feels pretty much stock smooth at low/mid throttle inputs. The best yet. My car FBO 335is DCT no meth.

I agree. 24C has been good to me. I still don't understand why the transmission is being altered with these different firmware updates. Why doesn't it just use the stock BMW transmission logic?

It's not the transmission, it's the engine behaviour during shiftings which is different.

if I may make a suggestion (please delete if unwarranted)

would it be possible to dial in boost limit cap thru steering wheel controls? trying to run map 5 with E35 or so and it trying to hit 20 psi is a disaster waiting to happen.

That is a good idea. I'll add it to menu 15 next time I'm in there.

Interesting.

Installed my G5 ISO yesterday and I swear my shifting is not nearly as quick and crisp in manual mode as it was prior to installing it. Its like now there is a sluggish pause during partial and WOT upshifts. I never experienced this prior to the JB4 being installed.

Side note, I have the Alpina TCU flash and have had it coded in my car for about 3 weeks now. I'm running the 24 firmware. After reading most AT guys feel this firmware is smoother than 24B and 24C.

Xshadows are you driving a 6MT or AT? I'm on 24 (A) and wanting to know if going to 24C is worth it for a manual transmission.

No logs, but 24c is smoother for me too. No more CELs with low throttle so far (DCI, 30% E85, AT)

ok so it's getting hard to find info on the G4. I've been out of the n54 scene for a little while. I'm building a 135i for a buddy. On the JB4 interface it has FUE=100. I can't remember what this is and can't find it on here. Does anyone know where i can find the list of FUa,b,c,d,e setting?

I could be wrong, but I thought those Future Use values often changed from one firmware release to the next?

Latest obsolete firmware in case it helps http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20161

I was going to post an old FutureUse text file, but couldn't find it anymore.

Cool stuff no longer installed.

It's definitely been a long evolutionary process. I can't recall the dates but can give you the approximate order in which the N54 tuning hardware was released.

1) Do it yourself "Terry Tuner" -- The one that started it all!
2) JB1
3) JB2
4) "Hot pill" add on to JB2 to allow another pound of boost. JB2H.
5) "Race gas switch", bumped boost up another 2-3psi. JB2HR.
6) Combined 3, 4 & 5 in to something called the JBX.
7) JB+ quick install tuner
8) JB3 - G1
9) JB3 - G2
10) JB3 - G3 (added datalogging)
11) JB4 - G4 (added CAN)
12) JB4 - G4, 15ohm version
13) JB4 - G5
14) JB4 - G5 ISO

24C is arrest me smooth. Just got my car back from BMW. Went in for the battery cable recall, they also updated the ECU software & put in a new HPFP all on Warranty.

Got the JB4/G5/ISO back in this morning, loaded 24C & went for a test drive. Have a long straight flat approach to my exit of the interstate. Went to WOT on the exit & was thinking the car is kind of slow.

Then I looked down & it was passing through 125mph. Had an old timers memory fart & forgot I started at 80mph. The push was so smooth it did not feel seat of the pants that it was accelerating that quickly.
