JB4 Newbie needs help with logs - JB4tech.com

Hey all,
I just bought a used JB4 for my 2016 RS AWD and with the first few pulls

...I love this thing! What I need is help figuring out how to read my logs and most importantly I want to be sure nothing stands out that is bad that could cause issues with my car. I have NO idea what I'm looking at when it comes to the logs so can someone please let me know if things look normal or not and any advice so I can know what to look for and what is normal for this platform. Thanks in advance.

Mods: Megan DP's, Stillen CBE, BMS inlets, AFE dry filters, and HKS BOV's.

BTW, I'm not using the fuel wires and do not plan to at this time and I have attached 2 logs. I'm pretty sure I was on Map 2

Dude, are you messing with us? Logs are bizzarre...Map8 pulls, Map 0 Pulls. ECUpsi red sport numbers mixed with non RS numbers. I see some map 2 full throttle, but ECU psi indicates its from a non RS.

I'll take another reading and I'm not messing with you as I'm trying to get this figured out. I'll do a 4th gear pull in Map 1 today and make sure its checked that it is a Red sport in user settings and repost.

I was just joking, but the logs were indeed bizarre. Post a fresh one. Don't switch maps...just a good pull or 2 so it can be reviewed. Map 1 is where you should start with a Red Sport. Depending on fuel quality, some can go up from there, others have to pull back using a more conservative custom Map 6.

Here is my latest csv file from a 4th gear pull. Hopefully this makes sense as I stayed in Map 1 and I have toggled this is a RS in the user settings.

Sorry to say, but your timing values look horrible and indicate your car is experiencing pre-detonation (knock). This is very bad for the engine so don't do any more pulls until you get it figured out. What fuel are you using? Switch JB4 to Map 0 until we find some answers.

Thank you! I've been using 91 octane religiously (All they have here in WA) but I'm getting close to needing a fill up. Should I try an octane booster (VP Madditive) with a 91 fuel or is that bad for these cars? Im just wanting to learn as much as possible about this platform and maintain reliability.

It is better to raise octane using E-30 or E85 mixed into regular pump gas. I am not sure about the effectiveness of octane boosters out of a bottle. Also I know some additives can damage the fuel system...you would have to research this as I don't know the specifics.

Unfortunately you are going to be limited with just 91 Octane in utilizing your JB4 to make additional power.

Here's a MAP 0 pull with nothing but 92 pump gas. Hopefully this looks much better than what I posted before. Apologies for the late submission as I didn't drive the car much due to weather and a crazy work schedule. Please let me know if anything looks like it did before (knock/detonation) as I want to protect my car/engine. Thanks
