By default the JB4 ships on map1. For higher boost map, logging, firmware updates, and other features, you'll need a JB4 Mobile adapter for wireless connection to your phone or a BMS data cable for wired connection to a laptop.

Map guide (selected via JB4 Mobile/laptop interface. Map1 is the default map)
Map 0: JB4 disabled
Map 1: 3psi over stock peak tapering to 2.0psi at high RPM. Default performance map suitable for all 91+ octane fuels.
Map 2: 4psi over stock tapering to 3psi at high RPM. Suggested for 93+ octane fuel.
Map 3: 5psi stock tapering to 3psi at high RPM. Suggested for high quality fuel including unleaded race gas, ethanol mixtures up to 30%, or high quality octane booster like Torco or Boostane.
Map 4: Not yet defined
Map 5: Not yet defined
Map 6: User adjustable map. Enter value of boost over stock by RPM on user adjustment page.
Map 7: Not yet defined
Map 8: Coming soon! Progressive WMI (water/meth) map. Increases boost as a function of methanol flow & methanol boost additive. Holds boost low until WMI is flowing to avoid tip-in knock, and reduces boost as a function of WMI flow in the event of interruption like running out of fluid, leak, or component failure.
Firmware:
V2: Increased sampling speed rate, minor mapping changes.
How to update firmware:
For firmware updates we suggest you turn off WiFi, change upload timeout to 25, and set your phone next to JB4 box under the hood.

Was able to hit the dyno today for a little baseline testing. Car is all stock with around 1000 miles on it, running on 91 octane with a few gallons of E85 added in for good measure.
Did all runs in 5th gear and wasn't able to find a good way to avoid the downshift without just flooring it slowly preventing valid readings below around 3500rpm. Kickdown hasn't been an issue on the road so maybe just a dyno headache. Despite that got some great baseline runs and was able to play around a little with the early JB4 tuning.
Also not 100% if the boost calibration in the JB4 logging software is accurate yet. Working on confirming that. It's in the ballpark though.
Best stock run was 456whp and 448wtq at around 22psi peak and the best tuned run was 501whp and 506wtq at around 25psi peak. In areas of the curve gains were 60whp+ so overall quite a big power jump for the modest boost increase. Which is good news for tuning!
Next step will be to take over wastegate control with the JB4 so we can push boost a little higher and see what this 2.9L can really do.

Too early to tell but I think 550whp should be doable stock turbos!

Testing has been going well and we're ready to add in 5 more test cars. The normal price is going to be $799 + $140 for the optional JB4 mobile adapter. Plus $29 for the JB4 mobile app if you don't already have it from another vehicle.
The BETA price for the next 5 is $600 including the JB4 mobile adapter and shipping. You still need to buy the JB4 mobile app separately (it's 3rd party).
If you're interested email me @ terry@burgertuning.com. Ideally we'd like customers who are familiar with JB4 products, able to install/remove themselves (it's pretty easy sensors you attach to are on top of the engine), and not be afraid of throwing a check engine light during the BETA process.

Had my beta JB4 on for a week in my QV, no issues as of yet. Power seems excellent, definitely at least in line with other piggybacks out there for this car. Smoother delivery than the maxpower pro for sure. Will be at a track day in a couple weeks at Sonoma so should be able to really test whether any check engine lights are thrown, and can also compare to whether I can beat the previous peak of 121mph down the front "straight"
Is wastegate control somehow going to be managed over OBD, will that need an upgrade, or was it just determined to not be needed?
As an early JB4 Beta tester for the QV, I have to say, I am impressed. The JB4 integrates and installs cleanly. Have been running Map 2 on an E30 mix and after sharing several logs with Terry, all has been confirmed as good. Power delivery is linear and strong, pulls hard towards the upper RPM range too. Boost curve has been improved and not choppy like the OEM tune.
Not sure if Terry has any upgrades or enhancements planned for the QV JB4, but if there are any, look forward to that release.

What is the function of map 6 in the beta JB4? It seems to be allowed to load, does it work like normal or does the JB4 default to a different map if asked to run maps other than 0-2 until the others are released?

I saw Terry's post from the weekend. Jeff had the QV trap @ 148 MPH? That's very respectable. Moreover, Terry mentioned they gathered some useful data. Do you anticipate further changes, e.g. Map updates for the Alfa QV?
One more question, for this platform. is ignition timing altered via the JB4 mapping or just AFR and Boost Pressure?
Yes Jeff@BMS was out racing and it ran pretty well especially considering the conditions. We have a few JB4 mapping changes to make based on the test data.
The real hold up at this point for releasing more system is harness manufacturing which is taking a lot longer than expected. It's in process though.

My question was whether it's live or not, not what the map is. Just based on a little testing it didn't seem like running map 6 resulted in any changes above the stock boost profile even if values similar to map 2 were used. Just curious if map 6 is actually working or just resulting in using map 0

Boostane is good stuff but it does turn plugs and exhaust tips orange over time.

Terry - be sending you an email, I'm interested whenever you get more systems available. I currently have the X-Pipe & Sprint Air filter, I will be adding High Flow Cats by the end of this month or early December.
Even with 4oz? I’ll use in moderation. No telling what it would do to the factory wide-bands over time either.
It takes a certain volume to make any significant difference in octane, I don't think 4oz is going to do much. But you can always review your logs on different mixtures to see what looks best. Not run in to any o2 sensor issues with it but that's always a risk with long term MMT use.

For the QV we're waiting for our production harnesses to come in to stock and then will work on adding more testers with the current stable firmware.

Are “trims” and “trims2” mapped correctly? e.g. STFT bank1 and STFT bank 2? I think trims2 is actually LTFT. This PID doesn’t oscillate much. With a different ODBII logger, the STFT functionality is what I’d expect for fuel correction.
