Default '17 M240i - Which map should I use - 11-15-2019, 08:07 PM

Hi;

Bought the car recently and quickly added the jb4 & MPE.
Running 94 octane from Petro-can.
Updated FW to 14_1
Been playin around trying to figure out which map works best; but as I'm no expert, I prefer asking if any of these logs (especially map5) indicates that I should'nt use certain map.
Shown these to a friend and he pointed out at the pretty lean afr; should I be concerned ?

(No log from map4 since I thought it was valet mode... maybe you guys could update the map guide, it still shows 'as of V11' and one needs to read the version updates to find out valet mode is now map8)

Did some research while I had some time and just found out the logging parameters & meaning thread.

Defenitely helped me understand a lot of things, and even made me see that on map5 log, the trims are maxed out. From what I understand now, map 3 log looks just fine, can someone just confirm this for me please.

While trims aren't maxed out they are near it on map 3. There's also a lot of timing drops. I suggest going back to map 2. Looks much better.

There's many threads where people try to run map 3 or 5 on pump gas up to 95-96 Octane. Rare few can. Our cars need higher Octane to run such high boost levels confidently and the stock fuel cap ensures we can't add enough fuel. Without BEF, WMI, CPI, etc.... Most are stuck on map 2.

AFE Drop-in Filter
BMS Meth Kit (100% M1)
Muffler Delete
CA 91 Piss Gas...
(8oz Boostane 95ish Oct)
E85 (2Gal/Fill)
BEF (Race_WMI)
JB4 (Map 7 - Add 45... 19-20psi)

Thanks for the feedback jboe;

Will stick to map2 until I add bef or wmi.... still debating on what route I'll go...

Any advice on which would be more beneficial, I already know the bef is pretty straight-forward and not that expensive, while wmi gives good gains & reliability plus, but involves more installation, andadds a consumable to worry about.

Is bef really worth it ? or I shouldnt worry about that and go for wmi right away.

CPI seems really hard to tune, and I probably won't go that route, as my 'tuning' knowledge is lacking.

In the meantime I already have CAI & cldp on the way; but from what I understand these won't help at all with fueling.

BEF does add performance, but it also removes limits that keep you from being able to maximize performance. Thus, it's needed in my opinion, for anything past map 2 levels.

Our cars need increased Octane and Fuel to really shine. While that involves more physical installation and tuning, it's the next step to putting down real power. Just depends on your comfort level, resources and desire.
