Default Just installed a pair of EBAY 17T Hybrids - 09-19-2021, 09:45 PM

Hello, long time lurker first time poster. I purchased my 2007 335i E92 AT over two years ago as a fun project/weekend car. Eventually I will probably get a custom tune, but given the fact I don't drive it very much I am in no hurry. For now Jb4 and BEF will have to do. I followed Tarry's hybrid setup running Jb4 with BEF, apart from occasional acceleration compression surge car is running great. Is there anything besides timing drop that stands out to you? Running 91 ACN on PUMP BEF MAP 2

Below are some of the things I have replaced thus far before installing the EBAY 17T hybrids.
  • Index 12 Injectors
  • 1 Step Colder NGK Plugs
  • Coils (OEM)
  • Oil Coolant Lines
  • Nut Blast
  • Radiator
  • FMIC
  • DCI
  • 2" Silicone Inlets
  • All Coolant Hoses
  • Water Pump
  • Vacuum Lines
  • Turbo Solenoids
  • Belt
  • Transmission Fluid

Update your firmware, lower FF to 50, and do a proper log. BUT first...upgrade your LPFP...it's crashing and taking your HPFP with it. Timing is nasty...I'd drop to map 1 to dial it in first.

For proper review and the JB4 to adapt, please do logs in 3rd or 4th gear from 2K rpms to redline at wide open throttle.

Thank you! You mentioned LPFP crashing and taking HPFP with it, what parameters do you typically look for to determine? I did notice FP-L dropping below 50 around 6k RPM and boost seems to tapper off a bit with it, along with FP-H drops below 1500psi.

LPFP pump is my next upgrade, gasoline here sucks but I do have access to e85.

Looking to purchase upgraded LPFP, possibly next month. I did lower FF to 50, firmware is recent and changed to MAP 1 PUMP BEF. Car runs like crap with those settings, I get compression surge at half throttle, if I even attempt to do a pull car will jerk and flutter like crazy. Did not get a proper log but looking at it it appears that on map 1 my target boost is very low and essentially I am over boosting. Why could that be?

Also forgot to mention, boost solenoids are new.

So as it turns out, I've been running on one turbo this whole time.

While exploring the various reasons why I might be getting on throttle compressor surge/flutter and why my car may be running like crap I decided to test the wastegate diaphragm with my hand held vacuum pump. While testing the rear turbo I noticed the wastegate arm did not move, after further inspection I found the vacuum line pinched. Now both front and rear turbo close at 200mbar.

Question is, what happens when one wastegate stays open while the other wastegate operates as normal?

Just trying to learn as much as I can, any info is greatly appreciated.

Then one turbo will produce virtually no boost and the other will be over worked.

That makes sense, now that both turbos are working no more pigeon sounds. Car runs much better, apart from wastegate rattle at around 2k rpm. Which is unfortunate since that was my number 1 reason for buying new turbos to begin with. I am still unable to get a good log, but did a quick pull on MAP 1 just to check if boost is closer to target and if I hear any more pigeon noises. I set FF to 50 per your instructions. I actually chickened out going WOT as the car seemed to pull so much faster than before.

Log looks pretty normal but isn't at WOT. You had some timing corrections but that may be due to throttle position. Try doing a proper log when you're abler to.

Absolutely, unfortunately one of my oil coolant lines busted while I was on the freeway. Car back on the stands while I install new lines

Finally got new oil lines installed, ditched the thermostat.

Once again not the best log, I am still messing around with settings trying to get rid of the god awful wastegate rattle. I don't understand, it's there during light to medium acceleration between 2-2.5k RPM. I will do a proper log soon, just need to find a safe spot.

LPFP is crashing...that needs to be upgraded immediately, before you do any more logging like this.

Noted, going to find one and place an order this week. Just out of curiosity and to learn, are you able to determine that based on the LPFP pressure staying above 55psi? I can see the HPFP also dipping below 900psi

Your lpfp dropped to 39.. 50 and under isnít healthy. You definitely need to upgrade your lpfp and not push the car until you do.

Did you already order? I have a stage 2 bucketless from Fuelit that I'm gonna pull so I can go stage 3. Has maybe 200 miles on it.
