Default Shifting - 08-01-2019, 04:11 AM

So I am having problems with the low end turbo I am not getting boost I have been running my jb4 with 21psi over for boost for like the last 8 months, anyway I am also having another issue in manual mode the car is shifting at 6500 rpm on its own everytime. Service has been going back and forth with the factory guys and no one knows why its shifting on its own. they said if they cant figure it out soon I could be getting a new car. Does anyone have any clue why its doing this?

hey we cant make gains unless someone tests the limits right!! the worst part of the high boost is the car cant shift fast enough its like as soon as I release the brake I have to shift or u bounce off the rev limiter then that slows u down but when u get it spot on wow feels great


GO BIG OR GO HOME or in my case go back to service lol

Those turbo's are producing nothing but heat over 18 psi. You're working them too hard and not getting any gains. And the shifting at 6500 in manual mode is likely the computer trying to save your motor/transmission. To adjust that you'd likely need an Ecutek tune.

yeah but its shifting without jb4 hooked up and y only 1st gear ? 2nd I can take it to redline look I agree low end turbo is most likely blown at this point. service is waiting for a response from the factory to figure out what to do ...

Like I said it's to prevent you from hitting the Rev limiter in 1st. I've had mine hit the rev limiter in auto mode in 1st at higher boost because it's revving to fast.

also makes sense why it started last month soon as the summer heat came in, in the winter I didn't have a problem but its been so hot here I noticed it started when it got hot out. Its under warrenty so they will fix it I will lower the boost to 10 till the winter!! just sucks now after having that power cause it is noticeable. In the winter at 10 over I was pulling 4.28 and at 21 over 4.08 3 tenths is big!!!
When I got this I asked a lot of questions and also about 21 over all I got was don't do it, I asked y what does it do I never got an answer. I am real new to this so I don't have the first clue if I would of known it heats it up like that I would of backed down oh well live and burn!!

ahhhh ok I understand!! let me ask u do u think I blew the turbo ? or damaged it? u most likely right about the safety think kicking in and making it shift so the factory has to do is reset it but they trying to figure y it got so hot of course they don't know I have it on. I can talk to the tech guy he is a friend but should I push for a new low end turbo ?

Unless the turbo is making noise or the boost pressure is vary, the turbos are probably ok. There are only 3 turbo options, 1 of which is factory. The other 2 are made by RT Tuning and PURE turbo and won't work with a stock tune.

they do not make noise but what i do notice when i just start the car it has alot more low end power as she is warming up or say the middle of the day here in ny its been in the 90's the low end cut out completely i have to nail it till the rpm comes up to a certain point and bam the second turbo kicks in and this is with jb4 turned off so we will see what happens

that is likely not the turbos, its probably heat soaking and pulling power out of the car to save the motor. The factory heat exchanger on our cars is a weak link.

so i have to wait for service to figure out how to reset this so it stops shifting then i will reconnect the jb4 but will leave it at 10over

hey thanks so much for you help

also is there a map that dont change anything but i can still connect i want to do some pulls in stock mode and log it but if i turn jb4 on i dont want the stock settings to change, is map 0 stock or if i use map 6 and just put all the boost to 0 is that stock?

again thanks so much for the help one more ? cause i cant find anything on here is there like a book or something that explains which each feature on the jb4 does there really should be i dont know what half the things so. any other settings that could help u can think of ? thanks

You really need to read the main thread I. This section that talks about the different firmware updates and testing people are doing. Long read but worth it.

does anyone have a clue how i can fix the car somehow it needs to be reset i guess what ever was triggered by me running so much boost. we are trying to tell the factory it was 105 degrees last week and i was running the car very hard and this triggered it. I can't tell them it was the jb4. Its almost 3 weeks and they dont have an answer and im driving around with a car as fast as a bicycle !!

I dont understand what you're looking for. The car shifts on its own in manual mode at 6500 rpms....that is likely an engine safe guard and in the factory tune. You can't change it unless you get a real tune in the car.

I shouldn't have to do a thing the factory should be able to fix it what ever has to be done, but they saying they don't know whats wrong. So I want to try and help them to get this resolved. I all ready connected inf of north America they going to have to send a field agent out to address the problem and if they cant then it would be a lemon law. I cant believe I am the first person to have this happen too!!! also I think burger should address this as well like I said there is no manual detailing how to operate jb4 so if your not going to have one then put some kind of safety guard so a retard like me don't do something like this!!

You still aren't being clear about what needs to be FIXED or what is wrong.

oh sorry I thought u knew what I was talking about, I don't have full bottom end power and the car keeps shifting at 6500 rpm's on its own in manual mode either spot or sport+ you are suppose to be able to red line the car in first gear if u want im just saying its not suppose to shift on its own...

You cant tell me the factory cant fix this problem or retune it ? they have to its under warrenty I don't have to pay every month for a broken car.. I am not paying out of pocket for a tune ...

That's what I thought you were talking about. I've said it multiple times in here its like a safety feature in the factory tune so you don't damage the car. You shouldnt be revving it higher than 6500 anyways. Infiniti should tell you to take a hike if youre trying to sit there in manual mode and bounce off the rev limiter. You don't have a lemon, you've been abusing the car...
