Default N55 FAILURE, S.O.S! - 01-28-2017, 11:02 AM

CAR: Veronica, a 2011 BMW 135i n55
MILES: 60,000

MODS: JB4, BMS intake, VRSF Intercooler, CP, ******* **, Remus exhaust, BMS Methanol kit

She has been down for a solid month now, so any help is much appreciated!!

SYMPTOMS: 3 months ago I put my foot into her and she ended up throwing check engine light and going into limp mode with misfire codes. I cleared them and she drove fine for the rest of the month. I still could get into her just never really pushed her crazy hard.

A month later, I did the same thing on the freeway with identical symptoms. Cleared the code, and she drove fine again for the next 30 days.

I had some downtime and redid the plugs, sure that was the issue as it was about due anyway. Opened her up on the freeway, threw the usual misfire codes, but this time as I cleared them she still ran rough, any time I would get over 2k RPM, misfire codes would come back. With any significant load she would shutter and surge before the codes kicked in. I limped home unable to go over 20 mph. Resetting codes did nothing.

Iíll condense the rest of the story by saying that after each of the repairs listed below the car would not let me go over 20mph or 2k RPM before throwing codes and driving even worse after engine light came on.

REPAIRS:
-new plugs
-new coils
-new o2 sensors
-replace valve cover gasket
-walnut blast intake valves
-removed injectors and took to shop for testing and cleaning (tested OK)
-uninstall jb4 with no change in results

AT ONE POINT OR ANOTHER IN THE LAST 30 DAYS I HAVE THROWN ALL OF THESE CODES:
2EE0 Combustion misfiring, several cylinders, fuel injection deactivation
2EE4 Combustion misfiring, cylinder 1: Fuel injection deactivation
2EE6 Combustion misfiring, cylinder 1: damaging exhaust gas after start
2EEA Combustion misfiring, cylinder 3: Fuel injection deactivation
2EED Combustion misfiring, cylinder 4: Fuel injection deactivation
2EF1 Combustion misfiring, cylinder 5: Fuel injection deactivation
2EF3 Combustion misfiring, cylinder 5: damaging exhaust gas after start
2EF4 Combustion misfiring, cylinder 6: Fuel injection deactivation
2EF6 Combustion misfiring, cylinder 6: damaging exhaust gas after start
2EFE Random/multiple misfire
2EFF Cylinder 1 misfire
2F02 Cylinder 4 misfire
2F03 Cylinder 5 misfire
2F04 Cylinder 6 misfire

HOWEVER, MOST COMMONLY (90% OF THE TIME) I THROW JUST THESE CODES:
2EFE Random/multiple misfire
2F04 Cylinder 6 misfire
2EF6 Combustion misfiring, cylinder 6: damaging exhaust gas after start
WITH EITHER ONE OF THESE ADDED IN
2EE2 Combustion misfiring, several cylinders: damaging exhaust gas after start sequence
OR
2EE0 Combustion misfiring, several cylinders, fuel injection deactivation

I have the Carly APP if these is some additional troubleshooting that I can do there. My fuel rail pressures at idle with that app are 4.9 MPa if that means anything.

I will attach a jb4 log from this morning. This is the best log I can get as the car wonít take much WOT. I will also try to attach the csv file if I can

For starters trims are maxing out. It's also much easier to read and diagnose logs taken in 3 gear as they are a little longer and wheel spin/DME intervention isn't as much of an issue. Currently you are running lean, overboosting, and so on.

Put FOL to 90, FF to 60, and try a 3rd gear log. I'm assuming the diode is cut on the JB4 correct?

It's possible you got a bad batch of plugs, or cracked one or two putting them in. I would go back to the old plugs you were running as a test because it sounds like when you did the plugs originally things got a lot worse. make sure to use a swivel on the end of the socket, check all wires while you have it apart.....

Any misfires? I don't see anything unusual in the log.

@Boyerstyle,

I see here that you had almost the same long list of codes that I have on my 135i N55 right now.

What did you determine your core issue was? The fix?

Trying to diagnose mine right now, and any insight you have would be extremely helpful.

Thanks!
John
