You can check the firmware date, or writing on the black box, to see which board you have. Info on the G5 is in the G5 sticky.

How do you activate meth on Map 7? I'm under the impression meth only flows on Map 3

I am guessing that on the G5 it is the same as the G4. Set FUA=1 and it will spray meth on any map. I haven't tried since I run map3 all the time.

Thanks! Haven't installed it yet, but noticed the "warning" in the first post.

Terry, for the temperature problem, we can always do a DIY ..

With this fan we can extract temperature, making a hole of the same extent in the enclosure of the g5 JB4

just look for 5v to feed.
I think it's easy and profitable

measures 20mm x 20mm x 10mm

The only issue with temperature is that the board is rated for a much higher temperature than the plastic enclosure is. So we probably need to remold the plastic enclosure with a higher temperature rated plastic at some point in the future. We're looking in to that now.

The fan would work for existing G5 owners, but I probably wouldn't worry about it if there haven't been "melt downs" reported. I guess, if it's found to be a problem, Terry would be happy to ship us his higher temp rated case. As a customer, I wouldn't mind paying a fee to cover shipping costs. I think Terry made the note simply because it could maybe possibly happen one day.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know that. I always run on map 3.
Which map (map 3 vs map 7 w meth activated) have higher boost targets?

I was having meth flow issues and with race fuel I knew map 7 would be okay even without meth , so i used 7 so boost would target higher than map 3 without enough meth flow. Which was happening earlier and targeting 16 psi (still went 12.0@116.5 :-) )

New map 7 targets 18.5 and with the backend flash with right fuel is pretty darn strong but I wouldn't do it with pump and meth over 3. You're giving up some safety nets.

Map 3 is still best option and can hit higher boost even tho 18.5 is more than enough on stock turbos IMO.

Yes the way these things go is we pay say $15k for molds and then the molds are used to spit enclosures out for $1 each. So once we make a higher temp maybe slightly larger enclosure mold anyone who wants one of those enclosures can have one for free. The downside is it's a long tedious process. But, we've been through it before, and we'll get going on it again.

Mine is running pretty nicely now. Good work Terry.

Should we make some preventative perforations in the cover, if so where do you advise?

ok - so i hooked up my laptop again this morning to see what would happen with the whole g4/g5 firmware thing - trying to pay a bit more attention this time around.

so i opened the jb4 interface and connected - it immediately gave me a warning that the interface setting didn't match the g5 board (was set to n54). ok. checked the firmware version - said 3/xx/12/256 (still) - even though i had uploaded (succesfully it said) the g5 firmware yesterday.

went to update firmware - selected the latest g4 firmware. gave me a warning that the g5 board requires g5 firmware and do i want to override? yes :-)

uploaded firmware succesfully. disconnected and reconnected. no warnings this time around and firmware is 8/21/12//0 like it ought to be.

i'll drive around later today and see what happens...

i'm hoping this is some sort of a bug with the 9/1 interface and not that i mistakenly got some pre-pre-pre-production g5 board.

Yes, really old firmware from March gives a false G5 warning. Just ignore it and when you upload the proper G4 firmware it won't come back.

That code is if you have unplugged the exhaust flapper, or if the exhaust flapper has failed I suppose. Should be a hidden code IIRC.

You don't open them, they are loaded as is to the JB4 using the JB4 interface application and USB cord.
