Default Max whp number with 93oct only - 11-24-2016, 12:20 PM

N54 users with hybrid twins (MMP, VTT, RB, etc), what was the highest whp numbers you got using 93 oct only?

Is it possible to hit 640hp (crank) with the VTT GC, 93oct only? Anyone?

Thanks!

No, about 500 WHP with RB turbos and FBO on 93. This was when inlets were added and I thought that was quite solid since before inlets that was the number with meth or e85 mix.
Stage 2 turbos are a step up from regular RBs but I think octane is a major limit. Seriously doubt 570WHP on 93, but possibly somewhere in between.
Regardless the N54 sings with some turbo blade and octane love.

You can hit big numbers but expect a piston to blow sooner or later. Pump gas, high compression cast pistons, and big boost do not mix. I'd keep it around 475whp max personally.

I was just asking because in Spain someone did 640hp with 98oct (equivalent to 93oct in the USA). Car is a 335i N54 with VVT GC turbos. I personally think that those numbers are to high for just 93oct.

Here are the results: https://www.facebook.com/AsproRR/pho...type=3&theater

I run meth all the time and occasionally an E30 mix.

With GC's it is easily possible to hit well over 500WHP on 93. We did 571WHP on 93 only, with an AT car, not even pushing that hard. On an MT this would be 600 or so. As long as you are not experiencing knock this is no more dangerous than running other fuels. Just do not let your tuner put any timing in the car, low timing high boost is the key for decent numbers on pump.

Keep in mind GC's are in stock with same to next day shipping. Don't get stuck waiting 1-2 months for your turbos. We are the ONLY N54 turbo manufacture with turbos in stock ready to ship.

571WHP graph is attached, as well as all the graphs from testing, you can see power go up with boost.

Appreciate the info on the GCs. I'm not looking for new turbos as I already have the MMP Stage 3 ready to be installed next week. I just saw the numbers of the Spanish tuner I thought that they were a "little bit" high for 93oct only. I guess I was right.

640 crank is only around 550WHP. So not high

Would there be a big difference in 93 oct performance comparing GC's to GC lite's?

With meth there is no significant octane limit. If E85 is not in the cards then I'd strongly suggest a meth kit with any larger turbo option.

Curious, is it possible to hit 500 with 93 no meth and stock fuelling with upgraded twins?
Also, what about torque limiting on manual? All the power in the world is great but pretty useless if I just spin tires and rip up tarmac.

yes, rb posted a dyno 93 pump w/ inlets and they made 500whp no meth. Depending on how you limit tq you may or may not need a LPFP upgrade.
