Bolt on S3 experiencing wheelspin in first gear when using launch control. Haldex is fine, front wheels spin slightly at initial onset, I'm talking about higher rpm wheelspin when boost fully kicks in. Anyone have recommended settings for max boost for 1st gear that works well on a mildly modded s3?

You can leave the settings as is and use lower rpm to launch, say 3200rpm and see how it goes. Other options is to cut boost. Start with max boost 1st value of 2 which will cut 2psi. You can go higher or lower relative to traction.

New Firmware is Awesome!

Been a silent lurker forever and rarely post other than maybe on the mk7 forum a few times.

I have to say, after coming from "Team6B" forever. I was one of the handful of people that had poor experiences on the 8.4x revisions. First time I ever got into safeties, weird issues ect. ect.

The new firmware is actually spot on.
It no longer feels like the ecm is fighting with the JB4. "brisk" takeoffs are now possible without the sharp hit, then wheelspin, then you back off, then you get into it again for more wheelspin.

Was always a dance of trying to modulate the throttle and the surges. Now it truly feels like an OEM+ Flash. Much smoother, no more hiccups at partial throttle/idle.

A+

Does anyone know what the actual stock psi/1000 rpm is for a 15 S3? Just curious to see compared to what I'm currently running

It will vary day to day dependant on temperature, humidity, load etc, but the best way is to drop into map 0 and do a log, stock figures for your actual car!

Yeah, absolutely agree! I had issues with the 8 series firmware too, hitting safeties, etc. Latest firmware is exactly what I’ve been wanting my car to feel like since day one. Smooth as glass at idle and part throttle with no jerkiness/surges. 100% how it should’ve came from the factory! Awesome job George and team.

I would like to add to this , same experience with my 1.8T ..very smooth and my hiccups are 99.9% gone it feels so nice and easy to modulate running manual transmission .
So far best update , pleasure to drive like stock with extra kick ...im on map2 93 octane .

Thanks George

One more question , how would the new map3 compare to map2 running on my 1.8t m/t on 93 .
Any benefits in running map3 over 2 ?

Thanks

Seems like 8.5.1 is a hit!

I can finally retire my faithful 6B image.
Farewell friend, you served me well!

I reckon on 1.8T which needs more boost low down the map 2 is better suited.
Map 3 give more boost at the high rpm range which the 1.8T battles to achieve.
Next step in the evolution of the unit is we going to use the Vin recognition to make engine specific changes in the maps. (please don't pressure for this )

Every time I select Map 4 on FW 8.5.1 on the JB4 app it said “Safety map selected”. Is there a reason for that? Everything seems to work fine.

I've got a leon cupra fwd. Only got air intake and turbo elbow. Would you recommend map 3?
Is map 4 only for cars with down pipe and intercooler or could I run it on mine?

Up to 5500 the two maps are the same with map 4 being less aggressive there after.
If you on 98Ron fuel map 3 is good for Cupra FWD.

The app is still recognizing map 4 as a safety map and will get fixed in a future update so ignore it for now.

Are you running 91 or 93?

Just making sure Future Use D for Audi Value 0, not bit:0 (which means value 1)

91 octane
Other day ran map6 with 5.5 or 6 in 4500rpm and got very rich arround AFR 9.somethng. So dialed to 5.

Does it means gas is not good?

Hi,

Yes, it must be 0.
On 91 map 1 which is 4 over stock works well. 5.5 and 6 is far too high. Its most likely pouring the fuel in as the exhaust gas temperatures are getting too high.

does the new firmware improves things in map 6 also or it's only the other maps ?

sometimes I get a "pause" between gear changes with my R 310 dsg7 but only once in a while.

I just updated the firmware now but didn't use the car yet
