I have a 2012 BMW 135i, manual transmission. Where I am from, the weather is getting cold. This is my first turbo vehicle, and my factory warranty will be expiring next few months. I am figuring out some stuff....
Starting a vehicle, do I need to warm up my turbo before I take off? Sometimes I am in a rush, so I turn my car on and then take off maybe 10-15 secs later. The manual says that I shouldn't wait and just go take off. I also drive very low rpms about 1 to 1,300 rpm during this stage till my engine warms up before I push it harder, or the oil guage goes to the middle range before I would push it.
Do I need to let my turbo cool off before I turn off my vehicle? I don't drive my car hard, and I know these are watercooled turbo engines. I know the subaru turbo's you should have a turbo-timer and have a cigarette before turning it off, etc. How about BMW N55? Can I just turbo it off right away?
Oil changes, dumb questions, I drove my car for approx. 4-5,000 km since last oil change, how often should I change the engine oil? Is there also turbo oil or just engine oil? I guess, I can look up my manual for this.
