Default Just Installed JB4 - Map 1 Logs - 05-08-2016, 12:14 AM

Hi,

So I'm totally new to this...I have a 2012 F30 335i, my mod's are: Injen Intake, down pipe with no catalytic, upgraded charge pipe and I Just installed JB4 with Rev 3 using the JB4 Mobile app for control.

I'm running Map 1 on 90 octane, please review attached logs and offer feedback on them thanks.

Does Boost level looked ok?

Thanks in advance for the feedback

Thanks for the review & reply Steve!

So the way boost tapers from 11.5psi to 8psi is normal? I was trying to find similar Map 1 logs from other member's with same mod's but unsuccessful so far :/

Can I go to Map 2 on 90 octane? What would be your recommendation?

From what I've read you need higher octane for map 2. Even map 1 asks for 91 octane min.

"Map 2: Additive target, around 6psi over stock. Suggested for those with 93 octane and bolt on modifications. Also good for small E85 mixtures."

Steve,

My F30 is PWG, is this the correct firmware for my car "N55_FSERIES_OBDII_EWG_6.hex" ?? As the filename has "EWG" in it...I just want to be certain I'm running the correct firmware.

Thanks in advance

If you are PWG, run the PWG firmware.

Hey Steve, that's what I figured, but out of the 3 options listed for firmware only 1 firmware had "Fseries" in the filename as per below, and Terry said "Fseries" was added to filename to avoid confusion with E-series N55 owners.

N55_OBDII_EWG_5.hex
N55_OBDII_PWG_5.hex
N55_FSERIES_OBDII_EWG_6.hex

So I wasn't sure on which to use...I will update to N55_OBDII_PWG_5.hex then.

Thanks for your patience I'm a newbie to all of this!

LOL...understood.

There isn't any E-series firmware listed in the F-series thread.

Steve/Terry,

I changed my firmware to N55 OBDII PWG_5and I noticed my Wastegate position is at 80, should I put it to 60? And the FOL is at 50 should I put it to 60? as per Terry's Default Settings diagram?

Also the BC button doesn't work, I can't get into maps via the BC button anymore.

I'd recommend setting them to default per the instructions. Verify your OBDII connection.

Hey Steve,

So updated to PWG firmware as previously noted & changed the wastegate position to 60 & FOL to 60.

Please review the 3 logs attached...the Avg. Ign. is high which I believe isn't a good thing??

Also to note...since updating to that firmware the car seems jerky, the BC button doesn't really work (it only worked once out of the 20 times i tried), I checked OBD connection & its OK. I also noticed on the CSV files my VIN no longer appears (but it did on the other firmware).

Await your feedback...thanks.

Your timing is pretty poor, especially at tip in. IAT's are also high so your I avg. isn't going to come down.

Not sure about the BC, sounds like a CANbus communication issue.

Hey Steve,

Thanks for feedback.

Since upgrading the Firmware IAT changed based on my the first 2 maps I posted for evaluation as well...I totally missed that. Was 118 and now 150

Boost is high as well...Map 1 is suppose to be 4 psi over stock but I'm doing 14-15psi, was expecting max 11-12 psi across the board.

As noted timing is pretty poor...Do you have any recommendations? Octane issue? Intercooler issue?

Hey Steve...I think something is wrong...lol

Out of curiosity I did a log idling in traffic to see IAT values and my log still says Avg Ign is 6...what you think? Firmware issue?

Default NEW: Map 1 & Map 4 Runs - How do these look? - 05-12-2016, 11:13 PM

Hi Steve,

Did some runs again tonight on Map 1 and Map 4 for comparison, please review them and let me know how they are looking now, thanks.

Also, please explain how the Avg. Ign. value determined? Is this a set value in the JB4? The reason I ask is because it was originally at 3.5 then I changed firmware and it went to 6.0 and then re-installed same firmware and now its set at 4.5

Thanks,
Jason

Not sure what you think is wrong...I avg. is dynamic but only while adapting and will remain at that value until conditions change and more adaption runs are done.

No need to start a new thread...merging these.

I avg. is learned.

Map 1 log looks normal but your IAT's are very high and will result in a high I avg.

Thanks for responses Steve.

I am totally new to JB4 and reading and understanding datalogs & graphs...slowlyyy trying to learn and understand, don't wanna damage my motor etc...so plz bear with me

After reading more and more posts last night I realized that I avg. is learned and will adjust over-time. Does Boost also adjust on all Maps as well...as octane & timing get better?

New to forum, so plz excuse my ignorance to forum rules & positing etc

Default Ethanol Time... - 05-13-2016, 03:44 PM

Hey Steve,

Quick question...gunna try 3 gallons of E85 later, is 3 gallons e85 to 8 gallons of 90 octane OK? or do I need to use more 90 octane?

Also do I need to adjust the FOL? or determine that adjustment after reviewing logs?

Want to try Map 1 & 2 on the E85 mix.

I'd only add a couple gallons and set your FOL to 80, looks like you are going to max out trims and FOl pretty quickly.

Map 5 auto learns and adjusts the boost target. The other maps have set targets or additives.

If my trims begin to max out what do I need to do? Upgrade the LPFP?
