Default RB Cold Side Silcone Chargepipe 335D relocation kit gauging interest>> - 08-02-2015, 01:04 PM

All,

We have decided to make a cold side full silicone kit for those looking to use the 335D coolant reservoir for those applications looking to put air filters on the passenger side of the vehicle (ie. ST's, TFT/MMP style inlets, etc). We would like to gauge some interest in this type of kit in order to produce it.

Keep in mind the kit may become more inclusive (and thus costly) as time goes on, but for now all that is included is the following items:

1) Throttle Body CNC adapter with TMAP provision (T-Bolt clamp) PLEASE note this will be anodized black.
2) Throttle body to BOV adapter Silicone Elbow (T-Bolt clamp)
3) BOV adapter (provisioned for Tial BOV ONLY at this time) PLEASE note this is not complete in the pictures but will be upon shipment (2 Piece Fully CNC'd and welded) and will also be anodized black.
4) BOV adapter to IC cold side Silicone formed hose (2 T-bolt clamps both ends)

This is all the into kit will come with at this time for the price of $299 for 10 slots.

THIS WILL NOT WORK WITH OEM ROUTED INLETS WITH AIR FILTERS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE!! And if you are not sure if you need this, then it is most probable that you do not.

This is great, since the guys that uses PI or TBI need a more flexible charge pipe as well.

Agree. Certainly allows compliance with the PI spacer as well.

Oh man, wish you made this two months ago. I spent more than 5 hours trying to install the CPE charge pipe with the Fuel-it TBI kit back in May...

Btw, where does the DV/BOV port go on this?

Wont work on 335is or anyone with ppk kit. The angle is wrong and will be in the way of the added coolant lines

Not a fan of silicone for ***** that see higher boost pressure. They expand under boost, wire reinforced or not, which dampens throttle response and hurts spool. No thanks.

Where do people come up with this stuff? You act like it's a balloon that swells up to double the volume.

Have you ever pressure tested a multi-layer reinforced silicone hose like this to see what it really does? If you said you could tell a difference in boost response between this and an aluminum charge pipe, you would be lying.

I drove a silicone "cold-side" IC pipe vs. an SS hard pipe back to back on my Evo X, running 28psi, and yes it was a noticeable difference. Boost plot on the dyno was also noticeably different. And you can physically see the silicone pipe expand when under load / higher boost on the dyno.

What have you done?

I call BS on a boost plot being different because this N54 charge pipe hose being made of silicone. Common sense and real world testing would show there's no difference so long as the dimensions are kept the same. The air flowing through the hoses doesn't care what material it's made from.

We probably should have been a little more clear on the boost response issue. For those who measure their boost response down to the nano second, you may see some delay by using this setup. BTW we are not using wire reinforcement as that is only for inlet/vacuum applications and will have no real affect on pressure side.

Have a single turbo and/or tired of burning up O2 sensors? Ask me about the new ADV O2 sensor retro kits!

It is provisioned to be tailored as such (3.25" at TB tapering to 3" at BOV adapter, 3" at BOV adapter tapering to 2.5" to mate to most IC's that are 2.5". The problem with 3" down on the lower side is that 2.5" fits just barely… lol. The piece of silicone from the BOV to the IC will eventually be made for 3", but it will likely be not for the typically enthusiast as some other "fitment mods" will likely be necessary.

Once anodized, will be very stock as can be looking, which is of our personal preference.

I would also be interested in this. I think people wouldn't care about the "extensive modifications" ie cutting the fan shroud a little more than it is already cut.

Are you going to be selling the chargepipe separate either way?

I can order them but unfortunately only in quantities. Had some sweet adapters CNC'd for this and everything, no one seemed to like any of it though. If we can get some interest, I'd get some on order.

I'm in, if anybody signs up and these get made. They're exactly what I'm looking for as long as it's one continuous piece with a factory style adapter. Only a matter of time til somebody makes these.

Only made the one-off at this time. Could put into production at any point, but was hesitant by the apparent lack of interest.

These are designed so that we can also make a full 3" up to the BOV adapter too (which increases to 3.25" at the TB), but of course they will not fit quite as nicely as the standard and current 2.5" towards the IC. They'd be really nice for production, after welding/anodizing/etc. Initial BOV adapter would be Tial.

Call me stupid, but what is this for? Just to be able to relocate the coolant tank?
