There is a post somewhere that says 1 = 150 so 7 and higher is probably needed. If you go lower than 7 there may be something to worry about. HTH.

I had seen a few posts about it, but Terry was still dialing in the ratio. Also, I don't remember seeing a post where he provided minimal levels. Hopefully, he'll respond soon to clarify.

With all that's changed on our firmware versions, it's probably time to update the "Settings" thread's first posts. That's always been our go-to resource.

The info you seek is in here.

JB4 v13 firmware:

1) Added active safety system for high fuel pressure. JB4 will revert to safety is fuel pressure drops below 7 (1000psi) during full throttle.
2) Moved safety/VALET map to map8
3) Adjusted map4 to be a performance map between map3 and map5. With the BEF map4 targets around 20psi
4) Adjusted FF learning to be slightly more aggressive.
Implication to me is 7 is your "safe" minimum. I'm pretty sure 1 = 150 in terms of scaling as was posted in a post by Terry somewhere on this thread. Unless Terry changed it very recently, I log with MHD logger and they don't scale HPFP (reported in actual PSI); I have compared to JB4 at full idle (change logging collection method in JB4 app to "raw sampling" and log for 15 seconds), and the math worked out like that.

Thanks for the info... I'm a bit confused now. A few posts back a member was told his fuel pressure was tanking, but it never dropped below 10-11. Thus, still safe.

I read that post:

I think the implication here isnít that safety was being triggered, but rather that lowering pressure over time was a sign that the map was too aggressive?

I am going to try some boostane with an e25 or e30 mix to see if I can keep both timing and fuel pressure happy.

But Terry mentioned that my pressure was tanking when it dropped to 11 so would be good to get a better explanation. A more aggressive map would naturally have higher fuel demands but if trims, timing and fuel pressures are reasonable then it should be okay I would think.

Obviously we are all still in somewhat uncharted territory with the BEF.

Boostane won’t help with fuel pressure since it’s not fuel. It’s an additive which will help with timing since it raises octane. Fuel and octane are not the same thing.

I understand but running less ethanol will help with fuel pressures.

Yes and to counter the octane decrease you can use an additive. I do that with straight 91 by using half a can of the Boostane 116 additive. I haven't seen any fuel pressure issues, but at 110+ degrees ambient air temps, my timing is gone. Lol. Car is fast but high IATs have the DME pulling timing so it's not like it was.

I'd still like a little insight on the fuel pressure side. It's a relatively new addition to our tuning paramaters. I feel I have a solid knowledge of the others.

Attached are map 4 and 5 logs with 93 octane base e30 and 8oz of boostane.

Here are four things you can do to fight the IAT battle:
1) use the stock intake
2) use the AP intake (it’s pricey)
3) if you’ve bought the MHD flasher license, flash and use performance (or track) cooling mode. It makes a noticeable difference in IAT, I’ve seen 10 degrees cooler.
4) inject more water in your meth mix. really depends on the trade offs you’re willing to deal with on this last one.

Hey terry have you heard of the new cpi fuel kit I wonder how it works and what maps and stuff to use once this releases ? Will the performance gains be similar to meth injection ?

Hi, first time running meth with BEF and wanted to check if things looked good. Attached is a map7 log. B58, 93 octane, 50/50 and xHP stage 3. Thanks

Yes using MHD BEF. Map 7 and race map for now. Not sure when race+meth map would be appropriate as I saw earlier posts from people running meth and still sticking with just race map.

I was running mhd race + meth and running into fueling issues. Will try your set up. Thanks

Are B58 BEF maps compatible with the 4 stroke B48? If no, any news on a map for this engine?

MHD doesn't support B48 yet but they are working on it I hear.

Default Question about graph showing 461.83 Max hp - 07-29-2019, 10:43 AM

In the graph on this page you show a graph with only using:
JB4_B58_MHD_E40_MAP3. You show a Max hp of 461.83 and Max TQ of 473.75.

Is this with the MHD flash and using a mixture of fuel to achieve E40?

Were these hp figures RWHP or at the crank?

Another question: I assume that because you are using MAP3 that this was accomplished without a WMI kit?

Thanks,

First I'm seeing the V14? I do see it available in the main Firmware thread. No idea what changes were made. Terry will respond soon, for now V13_1 should be fine. That's what I'm on currently.

On v14 just some minor changes to the gauges bouncing in newer models.
