Default Help, Delphi coils don't fit? - 05-21-2016, 08:02 AM

I bought the GN10328 that so many people recommend, and they don't seem to fit. There is extra rubber protrusions around the tip and it doesn't feel like it goes in all the way. It is maybe 1/8 inch higher than the old Bosch coils which taper more. Has anyone installed these? Looking again it seems like here is a newer part number GN10571 but that one seems to just be solid and thicker at the end. I bought them from Rock Auto. Need to get these installed today ideally.

Many people are running the 10328's and have the same issue. But they work. I have seen a few threads where people have used a razor to cut those little flaps on the bottom off, but I don't think you really need to do that.

I have the 10571's and they are exactly the same size as OEM.

Thanks, maybe I will just swap them for the 10571. I definitely won't leave them popped up like they. They are super loose too. From the scuffs it looks like the point of contact is above the crowning though so I think it is more than those flaps. There is no hold down on our coils so I don't want them popping out.

been running one for somewhere between 1 and 2k miles without issue but noticed it doesnt sit as low as the others. but side by side its exactly as tall as the bosch coils. I measured how far up in the tip the contact is and seems like they should sit the same. my theory is how stiff the end is. it seems to take more force to put it on the plug when out of the car, and the bosch seems to flex easier at the end as well. and have you ever paid attention to the angle of your extension when removing your plugs. they are definitely not at the exact angle of that access hole to get to them. so I think its that the bosch coils can flex to that angle at the bottom and the delphi cant, which doesn't let them pop onto the plug fully (maybe... )

I guess this is why BMW don't specify the Delphi coils for N54s and specify the Eldor (or previously Bosch) instead.

Use the S55 coils, they fit perfectly and I have been running them for almost a year with no issues. Part number is 12138616153
