anyone with a solution to this?

its obnoxiously loud

does changing the bov spring to a lower rated one and/or tapping the
manifold with a bigger bov vacuum hose really work , as suggested by some?

I would try putting the correctly sized vac hose to the BOV. The stock line is too small per Tial specs.

Mine sounds very similar. I upgraded to a 1/4" hose and outlet as well.

I have the hotside aluminum inlets along with aluminum outlets and I get this sound with stock DVs venting to atmosphere.

Just like the OP's video, the high pitch sound happens a split second before the standard DV/blow off sound and mind sounds like it's coming from the passenger side. It's almost like the DV's can't release quick enough.

I'm going to try the 1/4 hose and barb to see if that helps.

to chime in, i'm running Pure turbos with VTT inlets and it sounds like that too! car have been running fine, 27PSI with no issues for around 10,000kms so i wouldn't be too bothered by it. logs look nice as well. I would say that the noise is probably just the character of the inlets.

Thread revival, sorry......

I've been researching this since I put my inlets on a few months ago. I just found this thread and this video is exactly the sound I have that I do not like at all. MMP inlets on VRSF c.p. and Tial bov on custom tune at 22psi and all the other usual bolt ons. Has anyone found a cure for this possibly? Different spring than standard in the bov? Different bov?

Thanks!

I think it's a resonance from the silicone intake tubing and nothing you can do aside from running hard lines will fix it.

I know this is an old thread...but did anyone find a "fix" for that annoying squealing Tail BOV noise after installing inlets? Just got mine on...and instead of the nice "wooosh" with the stock inlets, I get that high pitched squealing noise now with the aftermarket silicon inlets......it sounds horrible!!

Got rid of most of it.. now only a bit on letting of from very low boost.

lowest spring , tapped intake manifold , 1/4" vacuum line

I think the lowest spring is about 7 psi ?....

have you made a video of your bov sound?

Listen to this video....sounds exactly like this, exactly. Guy has 1.75 inlets and a Tial BOV.

Fil 11 08 2016 23 27 48 - YouTube

I put a 1/4" ID line on the BOV last night.....no change in sound. My next step is the lighter 7psi BOV spring.

It sounds horrible......like a high pitched squealing parrot under the hood.

funny, thats my car and video :-) , anyway it does not sound like that anymore... I have the mmp hotside inlets, and outlets , tapped manifold with the 1/4" hose, and the 7 psi spring... I cant do a video as its currently on jackstands for some TLC , but I will make a new video when I can. I think you should try for the lower spring, it will make the bov open on idle but its more snappy. And update this tread then

Yep...that 7psi (black) spring should be coming in by this weekend. I'm crossing my fingers that it gets the BOV to sound "normal" again.

I will definitely post an update after I install the spring.

The spring isn't the issue. Running the proper pressure spring and it will still sound terrible.

The solution is to use proper piping for inlets or run the hot side shorties.

Or just scrap the tt stuff and put a nice big single on there.

Why would the material of the inlets (plastic/silicone/aluminum) affect the sound of the BOV that's on the complete other end of the turbos? The air is sucked through the air filters, through the inlets, through the turbos, out the outlets, through the FMIC, down the chargepipe (with BOV), and then into the throttle body.

How do the inlets on one end of the system, affect the sound of the BOV on the complete other end of the system? Just trying to make some sense out of it.

With no other changes but inlets, they completely change the sound. I think there's some kind of resonance they're introducing.

Well, I put the new 7psi spring in the Tial BOV last night. It's definitely lighter, it's fully open at idle, which I'm not sure I'm a big fan of....but I can always switch it back to the 10psi spring.

Long story short......same screeching owl/chicken noise when I'm in boost and let off the throttle and the BOV opens. Larger 1/4" ID line, and 7psi spring.....no change at all. Kind of frustrating...it used to sound so good with the stock inlets on the car.

At this point, I guess I will just have to chalk it up as some strange resonance caused by the silicone inlets....I can't think of any other explanation. I guess I will just leave it until I get some different turbos later this summer....probably just put some PR relocated inlets on the car while I do the turbos. From everything I've read, they will get that nice "whooosh" sounds back from the BOV.

Lol, you don't like the sneezing sound?

Stock location inlets are obnoxious. Probably better for IATs, but otherwise annoying. Lots more room in some key places without em. I'm glad I don't have to deal with them anymore.

Yeah passenger side inlets are the way to go. Driver's side suck(no pun intended) for a variety of reasons.

You will have also moved your coolant tank for the future when you go single turbo an added plus

What brand of relocated inlets do you suggest? I would going to get the PR ones, but the more I read, the more it sounds like lots of people have fitment issues with them.

does yours howl under all conditions or just certain rpm/load levels?

Mine seem to only make a slight toot when letting of in the lower rpms..

if ppl could make a video when it sounds worst and link it here..
