Default jb4 mobile replace obd2 - 02-06-2021, 11:27 AM

New to jb4, just purchased the kit with BT adapter. Can I use BT adapter instead of OBD2 to change MAPS. etc ? Website says BT adapter can change maps, but I don't know if I still have to connect OBD2 in order for that to happen.. Thanks.

Obd is required for pretty much everything other than map 1 but even then I'd still have it. Without the obd connection jb4 won't have access to all the engine parameters it needs.

I'm just trying to understand this too. So...to use the cellphone for logging etc...you must have both the BT kit AND the ODB cable kit, configured and connected to the phone?

What advantage is the BT kit in this case?

Yes, I did have to connect the ODB cable in order for the logging parameters to show in the bluetooth mobile app.

The odb cable connects directly to the JB4, not the phone.

With the BT kit/app, users can control the features of the JB4 wirelessly, without having to connect to a PC with the BMS data cable. So, maps can be changed, firmware updated etc, with the BT wireless kit/app, but to data log, see/clear errors, then the OBD connection is necessary.

Thank you. That makes it very clear.
