Default 175 hp instead of 201 hp, why? - 10-11-2020, 02:12 AM

Why did they de-tune the 1.6T to 175 hp, and most importantly, would a JB4 bring it back to 201 hp and then some?
What I mean is if I add a JB4 to 175 hp would it go up to about 195-200 hp, or would it go straight up to 230-240 hp as if the de-tune was removed and the power added to an engine that should get 201 hp stock?

OK, simpler question now, did they de-tune their 1.6T and 2.0T engines to make the turbos last all the way past 10y/100k for warranty purposes?
That's what I'm thinking, anyone knows for sure?

Another question about install: wouldn't it be easier, quicker and safer to just disconnect the battery and then go straight to installing the JB4?
That way, no worries about residual current anywhere.
