It doesn't look like art @ DMD has posted since June 2020. I'm not sure if anyone is keeping an eye on this, but hopefully because there are some really good ideas.

The app works great, very simple. The ONE thing that it needs is carplay support. Why force me to use my phone when the integration point exists to allow me to use the media screen in my car.

Exactly! This would be big and a major improvement.

I emailed the JB4 dev and he shared the following explaining why he hasn't been able to add that feature:

Oh now I see. The 3rd parties and OEM’s don’t want anything to do with each other’s data and control of it. Would be a violation. Guess this isn’t happening anytime soon.

They're just displaying the data thats being pulled by the phone. I don't see how thats a violation of anything. Its nothing extra, and we can't change anything through the app. Its just displaying it, making it safer than looking at our tiny phone screens.

It would be nice to have almost full control of the app via your cars screen. But I’d be somewhat happy with the main screen(gauges, connect and log). As good as CarPlay and android auto adds features to your vehicle, they also miss the mark on alot of other things.

We need a suggestion thread on the JB4 itself, not just the JB4 App.

But as far as the app goes, since the entire purpose of the JB4 is to Hijack the ECU, on BMW's at least, why not add a ribbon or two to hijack the iDrive screen as well. Then no need to worry about Car Play or any others not getting along.

I only see at datalogging settings the option to set autodatalogging at throttle level from 10-90%

It’s the option above the threshold. WOT Logging Timeout(seconds)
Select Auto-Logging Disabled.

Hello, as a user I have the following suggestions (or maybe its already available and I haven't found it yet).

- Gauge scaling - for some gauges (boost, RPM, etc) a scale of 0 to (max) makes sense, like 0 to 24 for boost with 12 being the mid-point. For others, this is confusing or at least doesn't make sense, like temps (water, oil, trans) - can these gauges be scaled as min=160, mid=250, max=320 for example for oil temp? That way at "normal" operating temps the gauge displays at mid-point, not at 3/4, and the "normal" operating range uses the entire gauge. (I have never had an oil temp of Zero, even on the coldest morning!) Seems like it would be fairly easy, since there is already an option to change boost range in there, but not for other gauges.

- Colors - Since an option is there for multicolor (boost is blue, others green) can the color change based on value? So the oil temp gauge becomes red over a certain value, like 290 for example?

- Is there (or can you include in the app somewhere) definitions of all the sensor values available? Some people may not know what IAT is, and I do not know what ecu_psi is and how its different from boost, or what fuelen means?

- Is oil pressure available? If so, what is it called?

Great app BTW, I use it 100% of the time I am in the car. Highly useful and well worth the $27!

Just did the latest iPhone update for JB4 mobile. Looks like the font size for oil temp # is too small. Doesn’t match the other gauges and harder to read. BTW, I use the bar gauge setup.

Thanks for all the good work on this.

Hi,

I have been using the app with an android headunit and OTG (USB) cable which seems to be working well.

3 things that i would like to see please:
1. every time i launch the app, it ask me to confirm/permit the connection to the USB port. Can to make this an 'always permitted' setting somewhere so that the app starts cleanly without this dialog?
2. can you make the map selection a button as well so that it can free up a gauge? The button can be positioned near the connect to logging buttons on the dash view?
3. Can you add an option to disable/enable the steering controls of the JB4 from the app? Being able to only control it from the app is much safer and will prevent other drivers from changing settings accidently while they press the BC button and the indicator lights suddenly come on.

Ps, i sometimes experience an issue whereby the app loses connectivity or stops updating the gauges. If i disconnect and reconnect (without doing anything else), it starts updating the gauges again.

I would like a longer dwell time on dynamic gauges like Boost and ECU PSI

Default Bugs and suggestions, iOS - 09-24-2021, 10:37 AM

Hi,

first of all, great app, does what it says on the box, well worth the money and will get a positive write up on the App Store.

Bugs:

1. On my iPad, when moving logs over from my iPhone via eMail, the logs no longer list chronologically (at least not according to the name, instead perhaps from date added?).
2. Why can I save log files from eMail to the app, but not open and save (i.e. add) from Files?
3. The ‚exit from graph‘ button doesn‘t work if the iPhone is vertical.

Suggestions:

+ Load Config and Save Config at top, or floating like Cancel & Save.
+ Ability to choose exiting configs and overwrite them, saves re-typing the name.
+ Change Cancel & Save to Cancel and Write?
+ A ‚nice to have‘: Multiple gauge screens, switched by swiping.
+ Another ‚nice to have‘: Boost map comparison via plot, e.g. compare map4 to map2 to mapX, whatever …

Thanks …

Default Is adding live graph possible? - 10-10-2021, 07:55 PM

I would like to see a live scrolling version of the data. Instead of having to open the log and then select graph, I think it would be helpful to see the data in real-time .

Thank you

More ideas:

Assuming one has established a tune for the car, subsequent use of the log and the gauges is really just monitoring for unwanted changes. So perhaps it is a good idea to make differential measurements available, e.g.

+ ‚Target - Boost‘, colour-coded green/yellow/red/flashing depending on the difference (and it flashes if remaining too different for too long)
+ A nominal value such as Target or Map could still perhaps be shown in the middle of the gauge.
+ Similar for Trim - Trim2, AFR - AFR2, DME_BT - ECU_psi, Ign1 - IgnX … i.e. in particular anything that highlights differences one would want to avoid.
+ maybe a round gauge is then not the best option for all, and so maybe also offer a scaled bar graph centered around ‚0‘?
+ double-tap on a gauge to show the last 30s for that gauge in detail (so buffering needed).

Thanks …
