Default Map 2 produces consistent hiss of air rather than exhaust note - 07-26-2018, 09:29 AM

Dear all,

I am not real knowledgeable but something isnt right here. When I select map 2 and really go for it, it produces a compressed air noise like the car is more air powered than actual exhaust. It sounds like a growing volume of air coming out of a garage tyre inflator.

When I go back to Map 1 its not so bad, almost none existent. I think maybe its overboosting? or the wastegate is open. Its going pretty hard mind you.

When I switched down to map 1 the hissing noise wasnt as apparent at all.

Other setttings - Ive tuned ASD to be a F87, Ive found it to be nice and quiet without giving me bull**** noise I dont necessarily want. Could it be that? I suppose first step would be to totally disable ASD and see what happens. But even the volkswagen I passed pulled and said theres something not right with it.

Any suggestions guys?

Would have to see the log for any tuning advice, but probably normal induction noises. If there was an issue, you'd get a CEL.

Very good point Terry. As for logs, well, does it have to be good ole American drag racing style pulls or can it be hard cornering up a mountain road...the later is possible. Former...would frighten the swiss cows here...as it is I will incur the wraith of angry cyclists doing it anyway.

I think because map 2 makes more boost compared to if you were on map 1 or 0

You just need to put it in manual 3rd gear and run full out from 2,000 rpm to redline and then get off of it.
